Everday I see christians on here who without one shred of evidence, make wild claims like:

....The first man was made from dust...
....The first woman was made from a rib-bone...
....There was a "talking" snake...
....There is an invisible devil
....There is an invisible being named "god"
....Prayer somehow affects the outcome of an event more than mere chance.
....Jesus will come through the clouds on a flying horse and dead people will reanimate and climb out of the ground to join him.

Please.

When can we end this sick charade?

Fireball2: There you go again with "it's all true". To claim something is TRUE, you are obligated by the "burden of proof".

ServentofGod: The big bang was proven by 2 nobel winning scientists. You obviously don't read the papers. Every major newspaper in the country ran the story....check it out: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061003/sc_n...

As far as evolution goes....open a biology book.

You people keep saying "beliefs". I said CLAIMS because claims require evidence to be taken seriously. While we're on the subject of beliefs....it is irrational and irresponsible to believe that the world will end soon because "jesus" is comming back on a flying horse!

hehehe! the silly charade is unlikely to end any time soon. take a look at the Christian responses. they are PROUD of their superstitions and have no intention of changing their minds no matter what facts and evidence is provided to the contrary. for them truth isn't truth as in fact or telling the truth. truth to them is what they believe it to be even if what they believe is inaccurate or a lie. they are smug, proud and arrogant. they are happy to believe that ONLY they know truth, that they are elite, special, holy and all that egotism. and in that pious egotism they'll dare pity you for not sharing in their delusions. truth doesn't matter to them. facts don't matter to them. the only thing that matters to them is that they believe they are elite and they ain't gonna give up being crown wearing elite for something so trivial as the truth.

PS. it's a noble thing you try to do, to enlighten the superstitious minions of religion but methinks you beat you're head against the thick stone wall of willful ignorance.

Gino,

You do not stand alone in your cry, "When will it end." If you recall, when Peter, James, John, and Andrew brought this question to Jesus, he replied, "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." Our scientific knowledge supports this fact as Helmholtz testified when he said that the second law of thermodynamics permits the human race "a long but not an endless existence; it threatens us with a day of judgment, the dawn of which is still happily obscured."

Admittedly, this answer (we don't know) can frustrate us. But then you realize the wonderful lesson contained within this bit of scripture. It tells us we must fully live each moment, because the end may come at any time. We must not waste the precious gift granted us by God.

We might shudder if we thought only of the grim fate threatened by phsycis. But then we can take joy in the knowledge that God, through grace, has bestowed upon us the possibility of everlasting life! So when faced with the grim and ignominious end threatened by the second law of thermodynamics, we can point instead to the resurrection of Jesus Christ in which God has redemptively transcended the forces of disentigration and death and brought life and immortality through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).

God bless,

Laura

Your frustration is understandable, however, here Christians are the majority and no matter what you think about their stated beliefs, they will continue in those beliefs. If you were entering dialog with someone who developed conclusions from proven facts, the opportunity to change those conclusions exists. When dealing with people who make assertions based on facts unproven there is no such opportunity.

That said, those (such as yourself apparently) who desire to work on facts, it is best to simply (to paraphrase) “turn the other ear” because there is nothing you can do to alter the conclusions of a believer of any belief.

When can you people understand that everyone is entitled to their beliefs?? If people can believe we came from monkeys, then why is it so hard to believe what the Bible says? You don't have to accept what Christians believe, but don't criticize our beliefs. Isn't "freedom of religion" the defense that people use? So, Christians are entitled to freedom of religion, also. And plus, let's say you're right and there is no God, no heaven, etc. What have Christians lost by believing what they have and living a moral life? Nothing- we've strived to be kind to others, respect them, help them. Now, let's say that Christians are right. God does exist, heaven exists, and hell exists (and those who make a mockery of what Jesus has done will live in hell for eternity). What have you lost by balking at our beliefs? Just think about that..

Prayer is answered, but that is something between you and God. No one can give you evidence, because the evidence is of itself. God is not invisible He is omnipresent so He is with you even when you dont want Him to be - because He LOVES YOU. Satan can be seen and is not omnipresent. He only deals with the big stuff by himself. the little things are left to his minions. Jesus will come down and will be seen by all, but you wouldnt believe even if you did see. As for everything else, it isnt even worth answering because you will only make lame excuses why I am not right and I dont have physical proof, all I have is what the Bible says.

1 CORITHIANS 2:14-16

14 ¶ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?

ROMANS 1:20-22

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools

Oh ye of closed mind. I'm sorry that you can't believe in a God that can do anything. A God that is capable of creating a universe would surely be able to do all of the things you've mentioned.

Hopefully you'll encounter Him someday, as we have. Our changed lives are all the evidence we need. If you've heard the Good News, your life is in your hands. Seek Jesus, Live Forever

You phrase your question in such a way that it doesn't warrant a serious answer. However I'll supply one: I am sorry that you are not lucky enough to have been blessed with the gift of faith, but there is no need to mock the beliefs of millions of people as they are free to believe, just as you are free to disbelieve.
