I believe separation of church & state is inspired by God, to protect His Church from corrupt leaders. So I don't think it means to take God out of schools.

I am not talking about religion. I'm talking about God. There is a difference.

It is written God will not be mocked, we reap what we sow. So for those who don't want God in their children's schools and are saying so. Who's going to reap these words.

Jim L, I am not telling to teach my religion in the schools. I want God's blessing and protection over the school's children. God loves them sooo much. but too much lately it seems the devil is going in the schools & shooting innocent children. Nobody is listening to God & His warnings about the danger. Is it our fault?

Born again,
Thomas Jefferson wrote separation of church & state in a letter, not in the constitutional amendement. The the Lord has shown me that He is the inspiration of it.

rejoicing,
Thanks. People have abused the meaning of separation of church & state.
When the antichrist wants everyone to bow to the beast, I won't. In America, I have the freedom not to. In school, the children don't have to bow to the beast. Only because of separation of church & state. Or our first amendemnt to the constitution.
Our children should have the freedom to pray to God in & for their schools if they have a heart to.

Wilchey, Let's just write that the earth is a book about the God who created it. It is a big book to read. We are God's creation. We are made in His image (body, soul & spirit). So let's just say the God of Creation & drop the religion division. One cannot deny that the earth is a very creative design.

Most people do not properly understand what was originally intended by the statement of separation of church and state. They think that the government should have nothing to do with religion. Yet the founding fathers incorporated Christianity in every part of the government. Today people thing Christians are trying to push their religion down everyone elses throats. Not true! Christians just was the freedom to worship and believe as our founding fathers did.... without being forced to believe what the state could dictate. England had a state church. America does not. Christians deserve the same freedom as every other religion. If Christians believe in praying... they should be allowed to do it whenever they need to do so. If they believe in reading the Bible, they should be allowed to take it anywere and read it quietly or aloud as necessary. If they want to sing Christmas carols, or put up the 10 commandments they should be allowed to do so. If Christianity should be removed from the educational institutions, then so should witchcraft, Islam, Buddhism, and all other religions permitted to be taught and pushed and encouraged in the public school If they take out Christian celebrations, they should remove Halloween too. Text books should not be cleansed of Christian history. Altering history is nuts! The next generation won't even know the truths upon which America was founded based on our history books today. Thank God for Christian schools and home schools!

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
It just means that the U.S. Government cannot establish or endorse any religion. Public schools (ones that receive funding from the government) must not endorse any religion.
I'm not sure what you mean by "take away his protection." If you believe in an all-powerful God, how can man take away anything from him?
If you think that God only protects those who pray to him, and therefore want prayer in the school, then I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with you, and the courts have been pretty clear for quite a while now that the U.S Constition disagrees with you too.
I just saw your additional details:
"I believe separation of church & state is inspired by God, to protect His Church from corrupt leaders. So I don't think it means to take God out of schools."
I'm glad you want to protect your religion from a corrupt government. I hope many Christians are feeling that same need now, as I think it is pretty clear that the Bush administration is corrupt and abused the trust of conservative Christians.
However, your intrepretation of the separation clause is self-serving. You are trying to have your cake and eat it too, so to speak. If you want your religious beliefs taught in the school that your children attend, then you should find a private school that shares your belief and send them to that school. In public schools, there will be children with parents that have religous beliefs that conflict with your beliefs. The goverment cannot allow any religion to be taught in the schools, because the mere act of choosing one (or a few) religions that can be taught is an endorsement, and violates the rights of parents and children who do not agree with the teachings of the chosen religion(s).

Separation of church and state does not mean do not allow religion in public schools. What it does mean is that public schools and public school faculty may not be the leaders of any religious activities, because public schools are government run and the U.S. government is not supposed to be part of anything that could appear to favor one religion over another. Since there is no way to equally treat ALL religions that exist, it is better to avoid them all and not allow any religious activities to be run by the government.
This does not mean that the students are restricted from any religious activities in public schools, they can do what they want, such as pray in class or wear religious jewelry, the teachers just cannot be the organizers of these activities.

Of course it doesn't. There aren't any thought police, your child can pray quietly to himself without a problem in any school. Public schools require an education without deference to any religious denominations. No child attending public school should ever have to think their religion is secondary to another. If you think your child requires a religion-based curriculum there are plenty of Christian/Catholic schools available to enroll your child in. If you are a religious soul that believes in God's protection why on earth would He withold it because of a school curriculum? I'm sorry but that makes no sense at all.

It potential the government has no business enterprise advertising faith, and faith has no business enterprise sticking its nostril interior the government. If the two happens, then there is not any freedom of religion. If a faith gets its strictly non secular perspectives as a component of government impositions on the voters, then those voters of differing or no faith don't have freedom of religion. I have not any doubt which you would be outraged if the government made a regulation that respected or maybe imposed on the final inhabitants a suggestion of a faith which you damaging. extra @Bruce: "usa's founders never imagined that outlawing a company of religion could restriction unfastened exercising, yet it truly is strictly the place reckless courts have taken us." Please furnish an occasion. and that i do no longer recommend one wherein government imposition of religion replaced into ruled to be unconstitutional and for this reason prohibited. And religionists have not any business enterprise imposing their faith on people who deliver jointly for a non-non secular purpose. i think of you would be a great deal offended if a Muslim baby-kisser or different chief took earnings of considered one of those accumulating to command you to prostrate your self dealing with the East and proclaim that Allah is god and Mohammed is his prophet. yet you Christians think of no longer something of forcing your faith on others in considered one of those accumulating.

Which God?
Is it only Chjristianity that should be kept in schools?
Why not Islam?
Why Not FSM?
Why not Bhuddism?
Why not Wiccan?
Why not Judeaism?
Could you imagine what Jerry Falwell or Pat robertson would say if we taught Islam in our schools? they would go ballistic.
Religion needs to be seperate from schools to keep kids from beign taught the "wrong" things.
just the one class, teaching religion, would take up an entire day by itself.

If god is all powerful how can a law made by man take him out of a school.
if your children believe in him then he will protect them no matter where they are.
My gods have never been a part of school teachings, but they still were with me when i was in school..
god will protect his faithful. and no law or rule can stop him. if it could he would not be a GOD now would he?

I cannot support state-sponsored prayer. No teacher should be allowed to require the students to participate or listen to a prayer.
HOWEVER.
Schools are a place to encourage free speech. If a few students wish to gather outside the classroom before a test and pray together, no one should be allowed to stop them. The teachers, no matter how they agree or disagree, cannot be allowed to participate in front of the students because it would constitute a state endorsement of religion (they are state employees, after all).
If a few students wish to meet at lunch for Bible study, they must be allowed. Just as much as if a couple of atheist kids wish to get together and discuss issues relevant to them.
God does not belong in the schools, it belongs in the hearts of its believers -- leave it there and leave the rest of us alone. We would not try to silence you if you were not shoving it down our throats.
(Speaking to the generic 'you' and 'us', not addressing anyone in particular).

Yes it means religion is NOT allowed in schools. For it to be allowed in public schools it would have to be a FACT and all religions would have to be taught not just one. That will never happen. You can't prove god exist so it will not be taught in schools. If you want to teach your kids religion that's fine do so. It's not the schools places to teach about religions its their parents!
Your kids can still pray in schools just quietly to their self. Religion just can not be taught in public schools.
