I do not.
What I can't understand is why every one wants to pick on Mexico. All of our illegal immigrants are not from Mexico. It just makes it easy to pick on Mexico because you can lump every one who speaks Spanish into one category. No one is going to do better until the WHOLE immigration problem is looked at.

Congress has never handled the issue properly.
Personally, I think..
*No Amnesty for Illegals
*All Employers hiring Ilegals whether knowingly or unknowingly deserve prison time.
*No Citizen or Legal Immigrant Benefits for Illegals (Social Security, Medical, Food Stamps.. ect)
*Any child born in the United States to Illegal Parents should not recieve citizen benefits until they go through the process of becoming legal. They didn't choose to go over the border, their parents did, so why punish the children?
*Mass Deportation of any and all Illegals.
Congress is not taking the issue as seriously as they should. If they were, this situation would have been handled by now.

I think a comprehensive program is needed which includes cooperation with Mexico! There's a new conservative President, maybe he'll help Bush out. But we need things like full enforcement against employers, a national, tamper resistant i.d., partial fences and more border patrol, all the time, not just near elections. I don't think Bush is up to doing the anti-business aspect. As for the people already here, perhaps amnesty for those here longer than 5 years who have close relatives who are legal residents. The rest should get temporary work permits, and be scheduled for deportation. The national id would help a lot no matter what other solutions are undertaken. Frankly, I think the economy will soon sink into a depression and jobs for legal and illegal residents will dry up. So the question of what do we do with all the undocumented workers will answer itself, not as many will WANT to come to the US in the future.

No. I don't think the right issues are being addressed. If all workers around the world were payed a decent wage and their lands restored (possible if we could work together) there'd be allot less immigration. Of course, we'd have to find a better system than competitive capitalism. I recommend starting with major tax hikes on the rich. Since the rich seem reluctant to tax themselves or their contributors I doubt the next Congress will be much better than this one.

I think that we should put 20 feet of cement down in the ground and 30 feet up the hole border of mexico and us, then by that 15 feet high electric fences, then after that snipers posted everywhere with the top gear. and at borders, some type of glasses that show human heat so we no if there sneaking at borders or not to. that would be the proper way to handle it.

They have all done a miserable job. The Republicans want to help the businesses hire cheap labor, and the Democrats want to get welfare clients into the country to get their votes.
We need: Major border security, including walls, fences, troops, shoot to kill orders.
Severe employer sanctions--jail and confiscation--for hiring illegals.
Biometric National ID for all citizens and permanent residents, which is needed for any governmental or financial transaction.
Tax on international money orders
Bans on renting to illegals. Enforce single family zoning.
Serious roundup efforts with forthwith deportation.
End birthright citizenship.
Just a start.

We need to enforce the laws about hiring illegals, putting penalties in the businesses that hire them. We need to raise the quota for Mexico so people who are here legally can bring their families, and we need to find a better system for getting our crops harvested. Once people are legal, they tend to go into construction and better paying jobs anyway.

For all you folks who want the Mexicans out save your money because you will help pay to move 12 million people back across the border. How in the heck do you do this? The fence for 700 miles is funny stuff. What about the other 1300 miles? Seems to me we are paying for their health care and babies anyway why not allow them to pay taxes?

No, Congress is not handling it properly. In my opinion, the only reasonable thing to do is create an amnesty program, and make getting a green card much easier than it currently is.

I think.
* No Amnesty
* Better border control
* Build a wall/fence whatever
* Children who are born from illegal parents in the USA should not be entitled to benefits and should not become legal
* Deport them
* Fine employers HUGE ammounts of money for hiring them.
