Same problem, I took the permanent solution and haven't looked back since.... Matrix sleek look, it is pricey about $1000 for initial treatment, but follow up treatments have been about 1$00 every six months... my hair is actually softer and more manageable than it was. I have been religious in using their products to care for my hair. No regrets... I didn't do mine poker straight either ... I kept some body and waves.

I do not use any of the serums. I find them to make my hair look worse.

I put hair gel in my hair and blow dry straight with a straightening brush. My hair always still looks frizzy after drying, so I use a gold straightening iron. The gold tends to get hotter than regular irons but make sure it has a temp setting. Adjust to where it is right for your hair.

Sometimes if I have alot of time I put in hair gell and brush straight then it air dries. This makes it less damaging. Then I use the gold straightening iron.

I think Mike is right straightening done by a salon is sapose to last 6 months. But very pricy and then your hair is pin super straight with no change when you want it curly or wavy.

You could buy a perm kit from the drug store, but instead of rolling your hair in the rollers you brush it out straight will the product is on.
If it says to leave it rolled for like 10 minutes for example then sit there for ten minutes brushing your hair out gently while it takes effect.
Or put lots of straightening cream or other straightening on your hair while damp and blow dry it straight section by section.

Have you tried chemical straighteners? If you don't want to use chemicals apply a light oil and press your hair. The oil will help fight the humidity.

How about a reverse perm? Or, just a regular perm, but straight?
