Any democratic society provides freedom of speech with provisions.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can literally say whatever you want whenever you want.
For example it is an offense to say you have a bomb at an airport when you don't.
This really is an issue of common sense. You are free to say what you want on the provision that what you say is not going to lead to the infringment of anyone else right.
That means if by saying something you are going to hurt someone you should not be able to say it.
It is the reason for many laws. One example being 'slander'. You aren't allowed to say untrue/flase statements about someone that would damage their image/standing in society.
So to answer your question. No. You should not be allowed to shout 'fire' in a crowded place. Obviously because people could be hurt from the rush of the crowd panicking from your comment.
THE PEOPLE ABOVE ARE IDIOTS. THAT IS NOT FREEDOM OF SPEECH. It is endangering peoples safety.

The best way I have heard it stated is: "Your right to swing your arm stops where my nose begins".
You are not allowed to shout "Fire" in a crowded place because there is a high likelihood of causing someone grave injury as a result of your actions. The exception is, of course, if there actually is a fire in the crowded place.

Freedom of speech has its limits. You are free to say things, but not something that can cause distress to people. If your shouts cause panic and distress, then you have crossed the line.
Must confess, did that once in high school. Avoided that area for the next few days. :)

Nope, that's specifically forbidden under the name "Dangerous Speech." So is inciting a riot, under "Fighting Words."

No, b/c you would cause panic and ppl would get hurt.
You might feel differently if your child or loved one gets trampled b/c someone shouts "fire"....just for fun.

As long as we're allowed to shout "You a******e" at whoever did it when we realised there wasn't a fire then yes.
