Thank you Anro, works fine. I'd looked there but missed that option. When I want to put a line or arrow going from text to somewhere on a drawing or photo, I've been sickened many times by the program throwing all my positioning out of shape, temporarily.

Try: Tools/Options/General and then unclick the option "Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting Autoshapes", Click OK and it should not appear next time.

When the box appears saying CREATE YOUR DRAWING HERE, just hit Ctrl and Z, short cut for undo and it doesnt undo the fact u clicked to draw a graphic but it undos putting that annoying box on there.

just press the escape button when it appears and then draw the thing that you are meant to be drawing
