This is a great question. Before becoming a State Trooper I was City Police Officer in the Capital City of our State of SC. LEO`s = Law Enforcement Officers wear a number of hats so to speak. One of authoritative figure in the publics eye, one an enforcer of the City, state and county statutes within the corporate city limits/jursdiction. Jurisdictional boundaries do exist though. And City officers only have authority as an officer within their city limits, they can how ever carry their service weapons off duty outside the city limits concealed with their ID and Badge on them. Other Hats they wear involve public speaking, accident investigators, criminal investigators, councelors to the hurting , deliver death notofications and be a lawyer so to speak, by presenting their city court traffic case and trial by juries etc, the list is long. I hope this helped a little.

that can very by the size of the department and what department within the city he is working for.
Some do only traffic, some do traffic and patrol. some are school resourse officers, some will be on foot patrol, others bike patrol, some even horse patrol.
But you enforce the laws of your city, county and state

To enforce the laws of the state, county, and city. To serve and protect the lives of its citizens and their property. To ensure fairness is given.

To protect and save. However in our world we need to be protected from them.Cause they more dangerous than the regular criminal on the street the are license to shot and those bastards are trigger happy here. And all they have to say is that they were defending themselves.
