So I asked out this beautiful black girl who lives near me. She said she wouldn't go out with me because she only dates black men. Well, that's her privilege, no problem... but is this common?

Well, I don't know about the ladies who have answered you so far, but I am a black woman. I was raised to appreciate people no matter what color they are. And if you approached me with respect, then I wouldn't judge you based on color. I say, just because she only dates blacks, don't give up on black women altogether. If you find a woman that you think is attractive, and you would like to get to know her better, then, Go For It!

Not really common. I think that if you become friends with her first, let her know what you are about and all of that you may have a bigger chance. Most black women only date black men because they have not been around men of other ethnicities. But if you open up to her, she may have reason to change her mind.

Yes this is very common most black women will not date another man of another race. Now on the other hand you see plenty of brothers dating white or other women of a different race. I have no idea as to why this happens.

I don't know about common but I do know about easier. I'm sure it's just the same as a Jewish person only wanting to date other Jewish people. Some people see race and color just as important as religion.

Yeah, and there are also black guys who do the same. But I have met black guys who only date WHITE women, which is kind of strange but oh well.

It's a biological fact that we are usually drawn towards our own species, and that extends into ethnic groups most times. It's the reason why people aren't mating with apes. It's the same reason a poodle will fancy another poodle and not a labrodoor for e.g.

yes it is but most of the time it depends upon an individuals choice.. i'm a black gal and have this huge crash on an indian guy, of cause he doesnt know me but i want to know him but i just cant seem to look beyond the skin colour..i try but cant, i'm afraid he will just not be interested in me..but if you are white, i mean coming from countries like america and the uk then it doesnt really matter the problem comes from those who are from asian countries.so i lets just say it depends from indivdual to individual but its a common thing..we tend to fail to look beyond skin colour thats all..

Preference, I prefer vanilla ice cream to strawberry. Strawberry is good too, to me vanilla tastes better. Preference. Although people are somewhat different but generally same principles, what goes down with the least bit of friction.
