It's not just age, it's weight.
Kittens can be castrated as soon as the testicles drop, but it is best if they weigh about 2 pounds or more.
We've done them as young as 4 weeks old, although 8 weeks is more comfortable for the staff... but either way, even the tiny ones (2 pounders) come out fine.

Most vets want any type of pet to be at least 6 months old before spaying or neutering. Some vets will do it for a younger pet, but the standard is 6 months.

It is usually about 6 months but some surgeries will do it as soon as the testes have dropped - around 12 weeks - ask your vet's advice.

In USA the answer is usually 8-10wks as soon as the testes have dropped and are large enough to pull out. In the UK we usually wait until 5.5-6 months. We tend to feel that it is better for the cat to have a little testosterone to help with early growth and maturation but there is call for us to adopt US policy.

Usually it's at 8 weeks old or later, as long as the testicles have dropped. Some vets won't neuter before 10 weeks of age...
