Please, no offence intended. I'm just curious. I read earlier that Atheism is a religion is this correct? And how is it a religion? If not, why are athiests answering questions here. I agree it is freedom of speach and they can do whatever they want. But if someone asks a question specifically about God, how is an Athiest to answer? Unless to say, there is no God. This goes for every section. I do not answer questions in computers because I am not knowledgeable with them. I'm mostly curious about religion and spirituality as it is such a personal walk. Answerers should be knowledgeable about the subject. Please help me to understand. Politeness is appreciated.

I feel the same as you, but in all honesty, we have 'Christians' that are provoking them with questions and comments that simply shouldn't come from the mouth of a God fearing person. So I can't say that they aren't wanted here, they get tons of responses for idiotic questions, and the real questions tend to be lost in the shuffle. So the best way to prevent rude unwanted answers is to ignore them, do not feed into it. You might be surprised how much biblical knowledge alot of atheist have though, and they may have an answer that noone else has. You can't generalize, it isn't all of them that are being pests, just a chosen few. Someone who is an atheist is not a satanist or any such a thing, they have no religion, they believe in nothing. It doesn't mean that they don't respect you for believing, and it doesn't mean that they do not have legitimate, correct, and heart-felt answers. ~peace hope that helped a little

Religions are personal beliefs about higher powers or the lack thereof. I think Atheism is just as much as a religion as any of the other ones, so they can have opinions as well. And most Atheists are even more knowledgeable about religious subjects that others, because most Atheists were raised as something else.

Atheists and such can't come correct with you without throwing insults and bashing those who believe in God. Unfortunately, some are here to attack religion and its followers. Some are here to argue and debate any thing in opposition of God. Some are here proselyLIE their atheistic propaganda by bashing those who are against gay marriages, homosexuality, abortion stem cell ,pray and religion in the education system, and evolution etc... They are not here for the Right reasons but only to scoff and antagonize believers. The only answer they can give is "There is no God" but with no evidence nor proof to back up their claims which is a endless weak ungodly argument. They have push away some good atheists and good Christians who would like intellectual answers and questions. These people live here 24/7 daily. Stay strong and Enjoy!

The thing is, atheists ARE knowledgeable about religion. You'll find that we are considerably more knowledgeable about it than most of the theists around here.

And yes, religion affects our lives every single day. And yes, we care about it. And some of us, like myself, think that religion is the most dangerous threat to mankind in the world today. So I'll be here educating people as well as I can. And I hope more atheists will do the same, particularly in the political arena.

If Spirituality were a separate category, I would stay away from Religion. Spirituality is a worthy topic. ;-)

P.S. I do happen to be very knowledgable about religion, having minored in it at university. But I no longer follow a religion.

Atheism is a religion because atheists declare themselves to be gods. They say that there is no god. How could they know this without having absolute knowledge, therfore claiming that they are gods?

But yeah, I find it annoying when people, who have no knowledge on a subject, post answers. I try not to do that, but sometimes I am guilty :P Even more annoying is that guy who has a "retard" avatar.

Cause we have a right to be here just as much as you or anyone else! Likewise several people direct questions to us Atheist or "non-believers" so we answer. Other times we defend our right not to have people push their religion on us. We make sure people know the the facts cause so many people give them false definitions of Atheist and insult them.

Perfect example would be that BS that "Jack D" posted in his answer.

Why do believers answer religious questions they don't know the answers to? Think of it as a public service. you're welcome.

"I do not answer questions in computers because I am not knowledgeable with them." I do understand religions. Not just one. I read about all of them. Including yours. Am I not qualified to answer questions on religions? Why is there a mythology section then? No one believes in it, so no one could post there by your logic.

There is no offense intended in this answer. The question you posed is asked numerous times daily and most of us have answered it numerous times. Perhaps a look through the resolved questions will best answer your question. Have a nice day.

Because this is one of the few categories that you can have a challenging intellectual debate over things that will never have concrete answers in our lifetimes. And there's far more people here than in Philosophy.
