I will be watching a 3 year old boy from 6-7 will his mom and baby sister are in the other room. Basically I just need to keep him occupied will his sister gets therapy. I am a very experienced 16 yr old. What do you think fair pay is? She asked and I said I dont care, so she said we will just discuss it tonight. Parents, maybe you could tell what you would pay? Babysitters? Also do you know any games or things for a 3 yr old. I am used to either babysitting older kids, or babies. Anything helps thanks!

For Robbie Holland:

I only live across the street and 2 doors down from them so it's really not abig hassle to ge there. A lot of people call me up if they're in a tight spot and need someone on late notice, even if it's only for 30 minutes people have asked me to do that before. It's easy for them they don't have to go pick me up and also it's quick easy money for me.

I would say that $10 is more than fair for an hour.

As far as ideas, if you have a printer with your home computer, you can find pictures to print out. Print a few and take them with you. You can print 2 of the same one, so that you are both coloring the same picture at the same time.

When you get there, ask what his favorite book is, tell him you want to read it with him, then the two of you can act it out. Let him choose first who he wants to be, or let him pick your character for you. (My daughter still loves this idea at 8)

You can always do the good old standard and just play with his toys with him. Sit on the floor and let him make up the rules of his game as he goes along, as a lot of 3 year olds do.

Good luck.

You can probably just talk to him about his toys (my daughter loves to show hers off) and play with them with him. Kids that age usually have a good imagination and you can just play along with whatever his imagination comes up with. At three my daughter really liked when I hid a toy in the room and then let her find it or vice versa. Reading books is always a good idea. If you could borrow a few from the library that might be good. Hopefully the ones you pick would be ones he hasn't read before. I don't think you'll have a lot of trouble occupying him for an hour. Good luck.

If it's only for an hour and the mother will be in the house with you, just in another room I would say $5.00 is enough. I don't know where you are at state wise but in smaller Michigan cities daycare providers only get $3-$4 per hour! It would be totally different if you were alone with him. 3 year old boys love cars, at least my son did. Any kind. They like to color and read stories. You will be surprised how fast that hour will go.

So you're going to watch a 3 year old for one hour at his home while his mom is there, I would say that $20 is good. A few tings to entertain a 3 year old would be to read to him, they love stories and books that have pictures, you can prolong the reading experience by pointing objects out in the pictures on each page and ask him if he knows what they are, what their colors are, things like that. You could also play like you guys are driving cars, like do the steering wheel with your hands in the air and walk around the house like you're in a car. That should do it for an hour. I hope you guys have fun and for your sake that he isn't a brat!

Good luck!

You should get at least $10 to make the trip out there -- for a "real" job you usually get paid a 4 hour minimum, not saying that's what you should get, but it should be more than just a basic 1 hr times an hourly rate of say $5/hr (which is the rate we use for our sitters, but for longer "shifts").

About the games, just get down on the floor and at their level and interact. Let the child lead and see where he/she takes you. The time will fly.

Depending on how much you have to do, I'd say around $10 at most. Years ago, my father paid $15 an hour to babysit both me *and* my younger brother (around ages 3 and 7), but fees have probably raised since then.

Chances are, if it's only for one hour, you won't have to bother with food or putting him to sleep. You won't have to do much at all, unless the kid's really rowdy.

Since you said "you don't care" the mother will probably try to offer you as low a fee as possible. ;)

3 year olds are very easily entertained, but they usually need constant attention. Try charging $10/hr. A good babysitter is well worth the pay.

i dont know how much to baby sit anymore cause i usually have my in laws baby sit our 3 yr old but when i used to baby sit a 2yr old when i was 17(almost 10 yrs ago) i got 25$ for 2 hours of watching her but no one was home until her older 14 yr old brother got there but i still baby sat her while he was there and got 25$.i dont know how much ppl charges today.....

my daughter loves playing "find me".she will hide and then she'll tell me to find her when she is ready.my daughter also loves dancing to any kind of music that has a beat to it.also bring some paper and crayons too but watch the toddler at all times cause they love drawing on the walls and eating crayons too.if he is into playing toys play with him.if the parents allows him to watch tv find something that he loves watching(most kids that age loves watching sponge bob)if you need to rest for a little bit.also take him outside to play for a while if its not too cold all kids loves the out doors just make sure you watch him cause if you dont he'll end up climbing on the cars or end up going where he isnt suppose to go.that should be enough ideas to kill for one hour.btw if he is potty trainned or working on it make sure he doesnt play in the toliet when he goes to the bathroom....lol.good luck with your job and have fun.
