I think it's great that you are using visual affects for your kids.
You could have crackers and grape juice like the last supper with the twelve deciples.
You can have a student help Jesus carry the cross and another offer him water.
You may want to have a group of kids who are the believers weeping or being sad also.
Have the other two men on the crosses one who mocks Jesus and the other who acknowledges Him.
I taught Sunday School for years when my children were young. Have lots of fun.
Thanks for serving God in this manner......

Sounds like an interesting idea and I'm sure the kids will remember it, but I would highly recommend that you stay far away from actually binding the kids in any way. Especially the duct tape idea. That could get you in a lot of trouble! And it wouldn't be necessary. Kids at that age will have no trouble pretending to be stuck there. You could have rope looped at the ends for their hands to hold on to, but even then, you don't want any 5 year olds running home to mom and dad saying you hung a kid by ropes on a cross in s.s.! Make sure when the object lesson part is done, that you give a good talk about how Jesus did that for you so you don't have to. God bless.

And did you knwo Im Jesus ******** Crist?
did you consiter going back to the hard ware store to buy some nails? you could always just hammer them up onto the cross intead of the tape or rubber bands. I bet nails would work better beacuase such a wonderful sunday school teacher was being mean to tape them instead of nail them. I scold you sunday teacher!
Dont consiter going to the halloween store to buy fake blood it should show i real good.
Did you also consiter having them watch Passion Of the Christ? It is rated R but they are under aged and would have likley to have nightmares for a year, yah them. Have them all say i am feeling tru enad don't know what to do so ill punch someone in the face and that would be you!!!
jJesus should be knwo in everyboys heart!
Jesus shall be killed in everyboys heart and we should forgiv ethose who believe in them!-Mark 13:27
Our Father, who shall kill in heaven,
Hallowed be thy the devil.
Thy kingdom down.
Thy won't be done,
On earth as it is in hell.
Give us this day our daily poison.
And beat our trespasses,
As we punch those who trespass us.
And lead us not into tdeath,
But deliver us from happy.
For thine is the hell,
and the electric,
and the remorse,
for never and never.

As a former Sunday School teacher, I admire your desire to do something different. (I taught First Grade at Chisholm Hieghts Baptist Church. But I am away at college, so I had to give up on it for the time being.)
While I think your idea is a good one, I can't help but picture the trouble-makers in your group. It is a good activity to do, but don't let it get out of hand.
Also, don't let the focus remain on the cruxifixion of Christ. Have the children do the ressurrection too. Children these days get a demented kick out of death - so why not tell them that the story doesn't end at the cross? (I'd do this even if the resurrection is next week's lesson - you can still give them a preview.)
As for the Garden of Gethsemene, you may want to use a red liquid with a water-base. (Such as red food coloring mixed with water.) Also be sure to lay a towel down beneath the rock, so you don't stain the floor underneath.
Best of Luck! He is arisen!

I certainly do not want to be mean but I think this could get you in trouble. This is not a good thing to demonstrate to kids who have little minds that can be shaped by this act - I would not want my children to participate in such and activity. Maybe when they get older take them to see Super Star and they Can see the Crucifixion in a light they can understand and relate to.
I really do not believe this is a good idea.
Sorry

That is a good idea. You should also have two other kids with a cross. Then the rest of the kids can play the witnesses. Have one kid give the Jesus character a moist sponge too. The kids will have fun but they will have a good lesson in the crucifixion. Hope my ideas help

You have my blood boiling.......Let the children crucify you,you are breaking Jesus' heart. When I was 13, as you are now, I would never of thought of such sick things to write.Maybe dreams do come true and you'll get to go to the prison and see your friend,he'll take and crucify you, and then stuff you ,so your momma can have you hang round her house.Oh I forgot the porcelain doll, but it's already stuffed......

OH, why not get one of the kid's to dress up as a Roman Centurion and "stab" Christ in the side with his spear?
You could find a big nosed kid to hang around the back of the crowd with a bag of 30 silver pieces (chocolate - of course!).
(It's difficult to inject understated sarcasm into text).

I think you should use hammer and nails right through the palms of the victim to give the kids the full effect. And are you sure that 2x4s will be strong enough? You might want to consider 4x4s.
