The basic support guidelines are:

* 17% of gross income for 1 child
* 25% of gross income for 2 children
* 29% of gross income for 3 children
* 31% of gross income for 4 children
* 34% of gross income for 5 or more children

I would contact the child support enforcement office and talk to someone down there. I live in AR, and I know that the MAXIMUM child support awarded is 20% of your yearly salary. If they are trying to take all of his paycheck but $10.00, then he might owe back child support and they may be trying to get him caught up. They usually don't try to wipe out the whole amount, so call them and see what is going on!

Every state has their own percentage guidelines BUT depending on what the deadbeats owe...child support WILL make adjustments. WHen I use to get child support I would get more or less than the court ordered amount...depending on how much he made and how much back pay.

Legally, they cannot garnish more than an amount that would put you just above the poverty level unless you do not have any bills to pay. Just bring your proof of income and bills like rent, food, car. They will not count a cell phone as a necessity.

The most I have heard of is like 37.5%, including the current child support.

Depends on where his incomes falls according to the Federal guidelines. According to the courts a parents 1st responsibility is towards thier children. Everything else falls after that, so if he is left with $10.00 I am sorry to say but that is what he will be left with.

I get child support from my daughters dad and the county can take up to 50% of his pay check. The only way it will be less than what the court orders him to pay is if he gets another job and he makes more or less than he used to make but it always 50% also if he is on unemployment they take up to 50% of that too.

This is just from my experience

depends on your state and how many children it is.. here in TN it is 30 % of your pay if you have more then one child but if you just have one they take 32 %... that is our states requirements and if he owes back child support then they will take what he owes and his tax return too... not much you can do about it.... just get a better paying job or work more hrs.
