Calebsmom has intrigued me, so I'm going to make this fourth situation and see how you would all react. It seems to be a sentiment shared by SPOOKY and spamandham, among others, who both said that their responses did not depend on the actual question.
This is a different version of Question 3, which is here:

In this case, the madman has cut the power and phones. You have no way to fight him, and he has a gun to someone else's head. However, instead of the choice you were given in Question 3, he gives you this choice: You may switch places with the person he is going to kill. He gives you ten seconds to decide whether you will die in their place or let them die. He will only kill one of you, and which one dies is up to you.
What do you do if he is holding:
a) your child?
b) your parent?
c) another family member?
d) your friend?
e) your enemy?
f) a total stranger you've never met?
