Well, if God is still alive, as we as believers know, couldn't He keep talking if He wanted to? I don't know why Christians are afraid of God saying something new - or even saying much of the same thing again but in a different location to back up and confirm the first location. It's like saying you will only read the first book your favorite author ever wrote, and then claiming the author wouldn't want to keep writing to help His other children in another land. It may be a good time to go back to studying Judaism, to see where all the Jewish symbolism and prophecies are leading towards. You will find them both in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, so there is nothing to be afraid of.

Ever take a good look at the Bible??? Ever take a good look at the Book of Mormon?? FACT: The bible is arranged, not in chronological order but by the first gospels, Acts and then by the LENGTH of book thereafter. So, Revelations was written before most of the other books! FACT: "Mormons", prefferably called LDS, never state the the "Mormon Book or Bible" is an addition to the bible. It is ANOTHER testament of Jesus Christ. It does not have the story about Jesus on the cross, or apostles or anything else that the New and Old Testament have. FACT: Mormons read the Old and New Testament as well as the Book of Mormon.
QUESTION: Do you really think you are the only person to have EVER brought this up?? OMFG!!! You must seriously BE A GENIUS!! 100%!

1) I am no longer active in the church because I researched the history of the church. There was a huge disconnect between what I had been taught for decades in church and what the historical record actually shows. I decided that even if the church were true and all the history could be explained away, it's current actions regarding its teachings cannot be. God's one true church would have no reason to whitewash or hide history. 2) I don't attack the mormon church. I still have many friends and family members who are apart of it. I do, however, feel that everyone has a right to informed consent, and therefore discuss issues with others via internet forums. I am not in front of temple square picketing; I just want the organization to be as truthful as it expects its members to be. 3) I no longer believe in "one true church." I think the idea breeds elitism and prejudice, and is the reason for the religious violence we have seen in the past. The only one true religion that doesn't do this is the golden rule. 4) I no longer depend on feelings (as defined by circular logic, allowing no other option: if you feel the spirit, the church is true; if you don't feel the spirit, you are wrong and not humbly praying). I am convinced of the rightness of my path by the research and logic that backs it up, and also by the peace I have felt in my own life as a result of NOT being a part of the mormon church. And just as a sidenote, I think the "slamming" goes both ways. In your mind (and by that comment), I, as a non-believer, cannot give loving responses. It's the way you word thing that shows me that no matter how open you claim to be (and I appreciate the question and the forum for discussion), non-mormons are still lesser in your mind.

Perhapes instead of trying to damn otherreligions you should focus on your own study. The bible does say that but is is also stated in Deutaronamy. Which is the 6th book in the bible. So by your reasoning the rest is false or "fake" Second the book of revelations was historically written before many of the books in the new testement. When it was tranclated and orginized by King James and his "learned men" they placed it last in the book instead of chronological order. Third when John wrote the "book" of revelations the Bible did not exist there for the book he refers to could not be the bible.
From this information we can assume a number of things. 1 john was not refering to the bible when he said do not add to this book but was refering instead to the book of revelations. 2. that to assume otherwise would require negating the majority of the bible. 3. Revelation is a gift from God. If God exists then there must be revelations. "amos 3:7" Unless of course God loves us less then the rest of the generations of the earth and has decided to do nothing among us. 4. if there is always and always will be revelation then we have to assume there will always be prophets. And that there have been prophets among other people unless the other tribes of isreal wern't loved as much as those in isreal. 5. That those prophets wrote books of scriptures to teach their people about God and Christ.
6. That there must be prophets today writing about God and Christ.
From these points I see a logical belief in the orginization of God. I find it hard to believe that some one as intelegent as you would find fault with this and call it fake. What I do believe is that you disagree with some small point of doctrin such as smoking alchohal drugs or sex. If thats the case stop lying to your self. The truth is the truth and cuts us to the very core. This is why christ said he did not come to bring peace but to turn brother against brother because the truth is hard to except when you arn't willing to sacrifice the things of the world. I hope your friend is able to help you understand why he or she knows the church is true. God bless you even though you don't believe in him.

Interestingly enough, almost the same identical verse can be found in Deuteronomy 4:2:
2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
So...if your interpretation of this scripture is correct, you need to take your Bible and rip out all the pages after the 4th chapter of Deuteronomy. ...right?
Perhaps a more reasonable interpretation is that men should not take away from or add to the words of God with their own words. Joseph Smith did not claim to add his own words, but claimed that the Book of Mormon is also the word of God, and another Testament of Jesus Christ. Why would any true Christian receive such a declaration with hostility?
Edit: Techronarrow, you're reported. That is the most slanderous bunch of lies I've ever seen. If you don't believe in the LDS church, don't believe it. Making up lies like that (or mindlessly believing what others have told you without verifying it) is just simply pathetic.

Many Mormons are very firm in their beliefs and are used to these kinds of attacks. For example, missionaries have gone through it for two full years. Fact is, you probably won't convince him that it's fake.
If he's read the Book of Mormon and knows that it's true, you won't be able to convince him otherwise by quoting scriptures.

Oh my! Have you considered some serious therapy? You're believing every anti-Mormon bit of literature that comes around!
Regardless what your friend believes, you ought to have the decency to respect his beliefs and to be a little more tolerant. Otherwise, you're no friend to him.
