I'd prefer to go with the Canon SD600.

Since both camera are very similar in the tech specs, it all comes down to ease of use. Yes, the Sony may be a little cheaper at some stores, but it's an older model and has been out longer. Since Canon has just introduced a newer model, the prices on the SD600 will drop. Sony are notoriously more expensive. And not just in for the camera. They only use Memory Stick Duo, which are more expensive and not compatible with any other brands. Canon uses SD, which can be used with most other brands and other electronics, if you decide to upgrade later.

the Canon is better, I have used both I like the way the Cannon works, there lenses are about the same, and the pic qu. is about the same

it comes down to what you want and like
