Maybe not instantaneously, but from complications, sure. Infections, internal bleeding, etc.
Just don't be callous about such toys there may not have been any deaths so far, but there's always a first for everything.
Here's an article:
Is Airsoft Dangerous?
In 2003 an estimated 70,000 pedestrians were seriously injured walking down the street and over 4000 pedestrian deaths. Since airsoft came to the United States, there have been 0 deaths and very few (it is estimated that there are less than 500) serious injuries. However, just like any other hobby or sport that requires physical exertion, safety is important. To help mitigate safety concerns, there are some common rules in use throughout the airsoft community. The top is the use of protective goggles. Goggles are usually required to meet either ASTM standards for paintball or ANSI Z87.1 standards for ballistic eyewear. In addition, the goggles must be a closed system, creating a complete seal around the face. Additional safety measures include specific rules on muzzle velocity, minimum engagement range, and the use of additional protective gear.
The most common injury attributed to airsoft is a small red mark where a BB strikes the body. At close ranges, there is a slight chance that the BB may even break the skin. Although less common, airsoft BBs have been attributed to chipped teeth requiring dental repair. This, however, is uncommon and can be prevented through the use of full face mask or a mouth guard.
Overall, with a little common sense and adherence to simple safety precautions, airsoft is actually a great deal safer than walking down the street.

BB/pellet guns can possibly kill in the right circumstances. But for an airsoft gun (no matter how fast) to kill it would have to be a "perfect storm" of events. If the person you are shooting at (Yes, airsoft guns are meant to shoot people) has safety glasses it would be NEARLY impossible for it to kill. If the angle was right and the BB hit their eye, the worst I could foresee would be serious brain damage. Airsoft BBs are simply to light to have enough force to do serious damage. Regardless, safety precautions should ALWAYS be employed when airsofting, because you don't to be apart of the 1% of freak accidents.

yes.......with a 500 fps full auto airsoft gun into the eye at point blank. wear eye protection, you're safe. Might chip a tooth, scar, take out a testicle, or blind you. But you won't die. (Those are RARE occurrences) Plus only ONE guy died from one YEARS ago. You're good

Of course it could. Possibly kill and most certainly blind someone if your aim is correct.
Try to count the seconds between blinks and make sure you hit them with their eyes closed!!!!
Seriously, though, please be careful and don't aim at people at any time. GUNS ARE ALWAYS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT
