I have a cocker spaniel! This dog hardly ever barks. Sweet dog.. (I suggest you get a girl dog) mine likes to spray territory.
He was very easy to house train. He trained to go outside at 6 wks old.

Had 2 labs in the house one time. Great inside dogs.

Any small dog will work well because they usually don't need a lot of exercise and can stay indoors a lot of the time. My daughter has 4 small dogs and they're all nice dogs. One is a Lhasa Apso/American Eskimo mix, 2 poodles and 1 Papillon. I've also encountered wonderful Shih Tzu dogs as well as Westies. I have to disagree on the pit bull. I've seen pit bulls become very vicious and heard stories of them killing other small dogs and even children. So I wouldn't take a chance on having one.

A Pekingese requires less activity than other dogs, they tire faster and hence make good inside dogs. They would be the best breed to get for a small apartment or house.

actually you should look at the book or on the web for small dogs. But here are some tips. There are lots of small dogs that shed so have that in mind.....shed means cleaning and clenaing...also if you are allergic to dogs then they also have hypo. allergic dogs...like maltese and yorkie...etc. Also consider with dogs that drool and little things like that. For small dogs my 3 choices are poodle (toy size) maltese and yorkie. Only reason why is for the allergy reason...not me but my husband is allergic to dogs...and some of the companys we have are also...so having a dog that is hypo. is good

good luck

something small and not energetic that has been bred for that purpose - perhaps a daschund (sp?)- not a working breed of dog like a terrier as they will drive you mad kept indoors (and you them)

All dogs need an appropriate amount of outdoor exercise however - and outdoors is a really interesting place for them to be - being cooped up indoors too much may lead to boredom and bad behaviour so think carefully about whether a dog is the right pet for you

dachshund are great dogs I've got two.My dog Oliver has needed to go to the vet only once in 9 years other than regular check -ups.Also minnies like my other dog Lucy are a good type of dachshund because they have less back trouble when they get older. They are smart and are children friendly.Ask my wife about Lucy and she would tell you she wouldn't trade her for anything!

I adopted a Mutt about a year ago..... He has been the best dog I've ever owned. He's an inside dog and is very chill and behaved. Mutts make great pets.

Any dog as long as you love it. We have a cavileir spaniel and a chihuahua as long as they are trained well even huge dogs can be good house pets. Just remember big dogs need more exercise(usually).
