Yes, but make sure you use the appropriate kind. Clorox is NOT what you want to use. Go to your local beauty supply store, and ask for help. Make sure you get the right volume for what you are trying to accomplish.

You can't use clothes-washing bleach. You want to use a lifting product, which contains peroxide for hair. You'll probably need a 30-40 volume product, and you may want to use a toner as well since peroxide alone can leave a dull or even brassy tone.

Go to Sally Beauty Store and ask them to help. I like to use ION's products because they are very gentle, but there are other good ones. I'd avoid the drugstore stuff.

Don't use the household bleach, it will dry out your hair and cause it to be VERY brittle. Plus you aren't able to get the look that you want with bleach. Get the store bought hair bleaching kit, and follow the directions that it gives to you. Things should turn out fine if you follow the directions.

I use a bleach kit from a store like Newbury Comics - any "hip" music and comic books store. You can also get similiar kits at Walmart or Target. If you have any animals put them in a separate well-ventillated room while you're bleaching, or it can make them sick.
