On cereals: put in dried fruit, like sultanas and raisins, or dried apricots and figs instead of sugar.
Jams: look out for jars labelled 'conserve' or 'fruit spread' as they will be much lower in sugar.
In tea and coffee: you can try to just put in half the amount of sugar and you may be able to get used to that amount, but if you don't, then look at any supermarket shelf in the sugar / sugar substitute section as they all have their own brand version that is cheaper than Canderel etc. The down side is that they can make your bowels loose!
In cooking: some ready-made meals are low in sugar. Just check out the labels for nutritional information. For meals made up from the basics, you don't need sugar at all in most savoury recipes for a main course.
Snacks: eat toast and a savoury spread instead of jams
Biscuits: use matzos or water biscuits , (very low in sugar and low in fat) , plus a topping like a fruit spread rather than shortcake, digestives, bourbons, etc
Desserts:eat naturally sweet fruit for dessert , raw, such as sweet flavoured eating apples, pears, grapes and bananas.
Simply avoid the more acidic fruits on which you may be tempted to add sugar.
Be careful with cereal bars (GeoBars, Alpen, Frusli etc in the UK) as they do contain sugar.

Actually, every single girl in my chemistry class last year did a report on artificial sweeteners. So splenda tastes the most like sugar and can be used for baking and aspertame is the old classic. Now there have been studies about both being bad for you, but no real evidence, just some junk science. Honey is what you use if you want to be all organic and natural, it will be sophisticated but won't cut down many calories. It's all really up to your tastebuds anyways. If you want to cut down on your sugar though, drink water instead of pop, it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. I don't know, I've been drinking a bottled water everyday and I look better and healthier and everything.

Honey is the obvoius natural substitute, but is not great in things like tea.
See if you can get hold of `Stevia'. It is the common name for stevia rebaudiana, an herb used as a replacement for sugar or other non-nutritionative sweeteners. The resulting extract from the stevia plant is roughly ten times sweeter than sugar. It was grown in the Uk during WW2 but abandoned infavour of sugar beet afterwards which is easier to grow and refine. It is available by mail order and through some health food shops.

The best substitute for replacing sugar is good old fashioned willpower to stop using, another good tip is to use foods which have naturally occuring sugars in them. For instance, have you ever tasted how sweet a carrot or onion is once cooked compared to raw?
I would not recommend the splenda or candarel substitute as i do not know enough about them.

There are various sugar substitutes in the supermarket, just have a look near where the sugar is kept. I like fruit sugar it tastes natural and is a lot sweeter that sugar so you need less

Splenda can be substituted for sugar. There is also a wide variety of sugar-free products in grocery stores now. You can add Splenda to what you make at home, and sub prepared food with the sugar free variety.

Have you ever tried the sugar substitute Splenda? I can't say I have tried it myself but I have heard that you can hardly taste the difference between it and real sugar. Worth a go!

Try candarel or other sugar substitute. You could eat fresh fruit instead of sugary snacks as they are naturally sweet and better for you. Don't cut out all sugars straight away though you'll go cold turkey!!!
