I'm an 18 year old girl currently losing weight (which I suppose is all composed of fat) and if I start working-out, will that help burn fat? If you're not lean in your mid-section and you do crunches, you build muscle, but the fat doesn't go away.
Can this happen in other areas, too?
I'm afraid to start really weight training until I get my body fat percentage down.
Any tips about this subject would be great.

Ok... having muscle burns fat faster... So weight training is a GREAT way to start. Its what I do, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I lost 20 lbs lifting weights and eating less. To lose the fat, you have to eat less, and that part sucks. But so many people ESPECIALLY WOMEN confuse hunger with thirst... So instead of getting a snack when you think you are hungry, try drinking some water... ELIMINATE all soda and snacks from your diet. I did all this and the weight FELL OFF ME... its so worth it to be small and look great just to give up a few things like soda and cupcakes. I still give myself ONE day a week where I eat whatever I want, but I dont drink any soda at all anymore unless its diet and has zero calories... I wouldnt watch carbs or anything like that.. .ONLY WATCH CALORIES>>> the DEFINITION of obesity is more calorie intake than outtake. So simply put, eat less calories and expend more and you will lose weight fast. Good luck to you!

Well fat is usually under the muscle so you might want to start doing cardio and increase your metabolism to burn fat, when you lose fat, you will have more stamina to do weights. When you do weights you should increase the weights and fatigue the muscle. so i think maybe you should start doing the elliptical or treadmill for an hr every other day and maybe do some light dumbells the other days and about 20 minutes of cardio. you should work out at least 4 to 5 days a week to see results. You also would have to eat right, 6 small meals a day.

you definitely want to do both cardio and muscle building excercises. You needn;t worry about bulking up from resistence training. The more muscle you have the more your metbolism speeds up and you burn more fuel, both while excercising and while sitting on the couch, because muscle takes a lot of energy to maintain. To actively get rid of the fat layer do cardio - walking, running, cycling, swimming etc, 4-7 times week, for at LEAST 20 minutes per session. Eat normaly, regularly, don't go on some weird diet that you can't keep up anyway. Although you might try cutting out as much sugar as you can. Good luck and enjoy the fabulous results when they start to show ;-)

A pound of fat weighs the comparable as a pound of muscle, by definition. A bucket crammed with muscle weighs extra beneficial than a bucket crammed with fat. that's what's meant by ability of 'extra beneficial dense'. that's the reason fat persons waft extra beneficial than skinny ones.
