Firstly, trimming is much better for your hair in general, so keep it up. Just don't get a lot cut off at once, obviously. Make sure you are eating well and get lots of vitamins, especially protein and amino acids--hair is mostly made of those. Don't frequently straighten, curl, blow-dry, or do anything similar to your hair, as heat and certain products are very damaging. Condition your hair and avoid styles that pull and strain it. also, don't brush it excessively or when it's wet...wet hair stretches and that makes it easier to break. I'd also advise that you avoid products with silicone in them (including Pantene) because they may make your hair feel nice, but they actually just cover up and sometimes add to the damage in your hair, especially if you use heat on your hair.
There's a lot more information on the net...I've been reading about it because I'm in a similar predictament. Good luck :)

First of all I of all people know how frustrating it can be to grow out hair. I have
done alot of things to my hair through out the years but now it is finally waay
past my waist. o to help you out I can offer some tips. First off Yes ! Having your hair in a pony tail will help , but so will putting into a bun . You can come up with alot more cute and effortless hair do's. If you like to use hair products
to keep stray hairs in place , try instead leaving hair conditioner that's right for your hair type. As far as finding the right shampoos and conditioners that is
a quest on it's own However Suave products are cheap yet very effective .
I hope that my tips will help you . Oh yeah by the way if you let hair dry a little put into a bun and sit out in the sun for a while this will help your hair stay
soft a manageable.(don't forget the sunscreen)

I am going through like the same exact thing! I bought these vitamin supplements and they asked me to take 3 a day.. (ridiculous) so I took them once.. which was not enough to notice a difference. But definately keep up with the trim every 8 weeks because I did notice growth with mine right after my cut. ( I hadn't gotten my trimmed in 6 months)

Stop getting it trimmed. When I grew out my layers a few years back, as soon as I quit the trimming, it grew 5 inches in 6 months. Eat well and take a multivitamin.

Well just like take care of it don't over process it. And puh-lease don't girl it or nothing best way if you have silky hair is to let it down and put it in a ponytial.
If you have African American hair you should tots.Like grease it or just get some braids for a little while.
Don't make your hair all pretty unless you have a special ocassions.

The more you cut the edges, the more it grows. Change the style for a while and it will grow. Just be patient.

You can't do anything to make your hair grow faster. Just play around with cute head scrafs, and poka dots head bands until it grows out.

Just be paitent. Yeah, wear it up for a while, and try different styles so you don't end up getting bored with it.
