You didn't mention what you are wearing - a cocktail (short) or formal (long) dress> That would help with the style you choose. My recommendation is to check out a star with similar tresses and look at how she styles her hair. There is also a great web site where you can print out the step by step on lots of designs for hair: http://www.beautyriot.com/category.php?id=62. Remember to practice the style a few times to get it right. You can always go to a local beauty college for an affordable up-do and no one will know it was any less expensive than the big salons. Have fun!

ok, i hope i can help, i have long hair too, and this is what i am doing for my wedding. ok, take your hair and put it in a ponytail. divide it into 3 or more sections, use a curling iron and curl each strand to the top of your head, stick it in place with a bobby pin that has a pretty flower or something shiney on it and then contine with the other strands. this is an elegant up do, i hope it helps.

Find a picture of a celebrity online where you like their hair, print it out and take it to your hair dresser, she can copy it and do yours that way. Try a half up and half down do.

You could try curling it (in a messy curly poofy way) and putting half of it up messy with bobby pins. i do that a lot.
