Or in other words when a person that has not been invited to the dinner either walks in the room or shows up at the front door and ends up in the house. Is it the polite thing to stop and wait until they leave the house to continue eating? Is this even more important when it is a member of the opposite sex?

I do mostly mean when you are invited as a guest or are eating among a group of people. Perhaps in a cafeteria.etc.
