Well, the Lake of Fire / Second Death is for ever. Read about it in Rev. 20,21.
It is also written the Hell is made for the devil & his messengers.
It is God's will no one will perish but all will come to repentance & inherit ever lasting life.
I've read the bible verses on hell fire, death & death, death in the sea, death & hell. I have looked up their meaning in greek & hebrew roots & know there is a hell.
God didn't purpose at the foundation for the lost to burn in Hell for eternity. As a matter of fact everyones name is in the books of life. Some get blotted out though. God sent Jesus so we can be redeemed by His Blood. So?
There are those in hell today because they chose to be the devils messengers. Either those that go where the dead go rest, those where the dead go in the sea, and those in death & hell. Those that are redeemed by the blood of the lamb go to heaven. Because their sins are covered. Even one sin will keep someone out of heaven.
No one is in the lake of fire yet.

"'I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 8:11-12)
"“For behold, the day is coming,
Burning like an oven,
And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.
And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”
Says the LORD of hosts,
“ That will leave them neither root nor branch. " (Malachi 4:1)
"And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life." (1 John 5:11-12)
Those who do not accept Christ will die once, then face eternity in hell, which is like a lake of fire or outer darkness in terms of the pain and seperation from God. To say those who willfully reject God and live in sin are not judged eternally is to ignore what the Bible says. Remember the parable of the feast? Were those who were cast out invited back? No. God is perfectly just as well as perfectly merciful. If you accept salvation, you will live forever with God, but if you reject it, you will suffer eternally. You can't pick and choose what you like about God's Word or His attributes.

We have free will. God made this place, where he is not, for satan and his crew. If we go there it's our choice to reject God.
Not you but what does Bible say about hell;
2 Thessalonians 1:8-10
8He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power
A place of conscious punishment
1. Both the rich man and Lazarus were fully conscious: Lk 16:19-31
2. "away from the presence of God": 2 Th 1:9
indicates conscious existence in exile not annihilation
3. A place of suffering, affliction and retribution: 2 Th 1:5-8
4. Weeping and gnashing of teeth: Mt 13:42,50; 25:30
Duration of punishment is forever, eternity
1. The same words that describe hell also describe God and duration of heaven
forever: Rev 14:11; 20:10
black darkness forever: Jude 13
Eternal: Mt 25:46 (heaven and hell alike)
2. Eternal day of Christians is same duration as eternal night of lost
3. The undying worm, everlastingly consuming an unconsumable body
4. No second chance:
Appointed to die once then comes judgement: Heb 9:27
Great gulf fixed between good and bad: Lk 16
5. Annihilation is a false doctrine:
6. Based fundamentally upon the false doctrine that rejects the dichotomous nature of man. Eternal punishment is likened unto setting fire to dry leaf. The leaf is destroyed forever, it ceases to exist and the fire goes out although nothing could extinguish the fire before the leaf was fully consumed. "Carnalists" believe the Bible teaches "eternal destruction" (destroyed forever) rather than "eternal punishment" (conscious pain forever). The Bible mentions a punishment worse than physical death: Heb 10:28-29 What is it if not hell?
God appealed to all our five senses to describe hell as a bad place:
1. Touch: pain from burning fire
2. Taste: dry mouth, extreme thirst, blood from gnashing teeth
3. Smell: rotting garbage-gehenna; rotten eggs-brimstone
4. Sight: smoke-fire; corruption-gehenna or black darkness
5. Sound: moaning, weeping, crying, screaming

You are quite wrong there.
The original Hebrew scriptures, Old Testament, very often refer to Gehenna. Gehenna is hell. Fire for all eternity.
There is also Sheol and Hades. Both coming out of the Hebrew scriptures.
The Book of Sirach isn't in Protestant bibles so they're missing some. Same with Maccabees 1 & 2, where it talks about how to free souls stuck in Sheol.
Job, Ezekiel, Deuteronomy. It's mentioned in all of these books, just to name a few.
Try again, love...

Although no book of the traditional bible states that god sends people to hell, there are several books that were left out of the final draft of the bible that state that God refuses entry to heaven. Secondly, it is not until the new testament that god undergoes a makeover and becomes a loving god. In the old testament he is often spoken of as vengeful, seeing as he burned Sodom and Gamora and sent the inhabitants to the unholiest place. The idea of satan was actually not instituted until the dark ages into the renassaince in order to provide a counterarguement for people's reaction to why bad things happen. He was created by the church itself in order to explain bad things in our lives rather than to blame god for all the tradgedies. this not only scared people into becomeing better in order to avaoid hell, but also gave them a reason to act properly. Although the bible does not directly teach that god sends the unbeleivers into hell, it is widely accepted in several other books that are not included in the final text and in several passages in which it is said that god punishes the wicked (and if you define wicked by the ten commandments given by god, then anyone who does not beleive is wicked). So, in a way, you are just plain wrong.

"Could you be wrong in your claims about Judgment Day and the existence of hell?"
The existence of hell and the surety of the judgment are not the claims of fallible man. The Bible is the source of the claim, and it is utterly infallible. When someone becomes a Christian, he is admitting that he was in the wrong, and that God is justified in His declarations that we have sinned against Him.
However, let’s surmise for a moment that there is no Judgment Day and no hell. That would mean that the Bible is a huge hoax, in which more than forty authors collaborated (over a period of 3,000 years) to produce a document revealing God’s character as "just." They portrayed Him as a just judge, who warned that He would eventually punish murderers, rapists, liars, thieves, adulterers, etc. Each of those writers (who professed to be godly) therefore bore false witness, transgressing the very commandments they claimed to be true.
It would mean that Jesus Christ was a liar, and that all the claims He made about the reality of judgment were there-fore false. It would also mean that He gave His life in vain, as did multitudes of martyrs who have given their lives for the cause of Christ. Add to that the thought that if there is no ultimate justice, it means that the Creator of all things is unjust—that He sees murder and rape and couldn’t care less, making Him worse than a corrupt human judge who refuses to bring criminals to justice.
Here’s the good news, though, if there is no hell: You won’t know a thing after you die. It will be the end. No heaven, no hell. Just nothing. You won’t even realize that it’s good news.
Here’s the bad news if the Bible is right and that there is eternal justice: You will find yourself standing before the judgment throne of a holy God, who has seen every sin you have ever committed. Think of it. A holy and perfect Creator has seen your thought-life and every secret sin you have ever committed. You have a multitude of sins, and God must by nature carry out justice. Ask Him to remind you of the sins of your youth. Ask Him to bring to remembrance your secret sexual sins, the lies, the gossip, and other idle words. You may have forgotten your past sins, but God hasn’t. Hell will be your just desert (exactly what you deserve), and you will have no one to blame but yourself. This is the claim of the Bible. If you don’t believe it, it is still true. It will still happen.
Yet, there is good news—incredibly good news. We deserve judgment, but God offers us mercy through the cross. He paid our fine so that we could leave the courtroom. He destroyed the power of the grave for all who obey Him. Simply obey the gospel, and live. By doing that you will find out for yourself that the gospel is indeed the "gospel truth." Jesus said that if you obey Him, you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free (see John 8:31,32).
Get on your knees today, confess and forsake your sins. Tell God you are truly sorry, then trust the Savior as you would trust yourself to a parachute. Then you will find yourself in a terrible dilemma. You will know for certain that hell is a reality. When you get up the courage to warn people you care about, they will smile passively, and say, "Could you be wrong in your claims about Judgment Day and the existence of hell?"
Grace and Peace to you

A debateable position... and indeed needing much mopre room thatn is here... as is required for most of the honest questions about The Bible and all the God stuff... but as I do not have to worry about that consequence I do not participate in such debate... When I present the Salvation Message I do not bring the up the subject of hell. If it is brought up by the one I am speaking to I will present both sides of the debate about it... both being not the best choice... I focus on The Better Choice.
