how do I let a guy know I like him without putting him on the spot?

I really like this guy but hes shy & I dont want to rush him into the wrong answer because I sent him the wrong social cues.
Ive put so much time into him that my friends are telling me to let it go. but in my heart I cant because I feel I have to be honest before I make such a snap desicion.

he will be put on the spot regardless...so just tell him and let him deal with his own "spot" issues

Try writting him a note.

For me things come out better when I write things cause I am also shy.
