If you want strong bones, plenty of calcium helps, and milk is a pretty decent source (assuming you're not lactose-intolerant).

However, there are plenty of other good foods that are high in calcium, such as cheeses, tofu (processed with calcium sulfate), and fortified soymilk, almonds, dark greens such as kale, broccoli, turnip, and collard greens, and salmon (especially with the bones).

And don't forget: weight-bearing exercises are also really important, especially for young people (who are in the process of laying down plenty of good solid bone mass).

It certainly gave me strong bones. I used to drink one to two gallons of milk a day when I was a teenager and when one time I had some x-rays done, the pictures showed very white bones. The doctor told me that I must be drinking a lot of milk to which I agreed and he told me that my bones are very healthy and strong.

No, it does not.

Calcium does - my point here is that other foods and drinks have calcium in them - some drinks, like Tropicana Orange Juice, can be found enriched with calcium.

Milk does help, but that isn't your only choice.
