I don't think you got it. God did not rest when he created the universe, it is only the beginning that God is creating the heavenly bodies, on the sixth day God Created Man and on the seventh day the creation is finished so God rested. Rested means that God ceased creating.

God wanted to set an example for humanity. Jesus didn't need to be baptized but he was. God doesn't ask humans to pass over ground that he hasn't already walked over. God rested on the Sabbath, rejoicing together with His perfect creation, setting it a side as a holy day when He would meet with humanity in a special way. The Sabbath is a sign between God and humanity forever, a sign of God as creator and as redeemer (count the number of times Jesus restored suffering humans on the Sabbath). When God created the world, he rested on the seventh day. When Jesus had completed His mission on earth he too rested in the tomb on the seventh day. God resting on the seventh day is not about God's need but God's desire to redeem and bless humans with His presence. I look forward to the Sabbaths in the earth made new when we can meet with God eye-to-eye. Hope this was of some help. God bless!

It not so much resting because of tiredness; it was resting to stop and think about what he created. God saw that it was good. The resting is God's down time to appreciate the goodness of all of creation, to be delighted in it. And to simply love it and us. If we observe the 7th day, this is what we should be doing, too. Revel in the goodness of all creation, appreciate the dawn and the setting of the sun, notice growing things, love the people in your life, have gratitude for the ordinary (but really extrordinary) things around you that we usually take for granted.

God's rest is not like ours or for the same reasons. Jesus said that God is still working to this day. God rested from His creative works.

It doesn't mean "rest" in the sense of recuperation. It just means He stopped doing what he had been doing. When my power saw is "at rest" it isn't recuperating from all the work it has been doing. It is simply in a stop position. At rest. That's all it means. First God created. Then God stopped creating and was at rest.

The Bible does not indicate that God needed rest. He set the seventh day apart as an example for us.

To enjoy His creation. It's like after an engineer makes a product, and he's finished producing it, and he wants to see it in action. So he let's it run, stands by to see if it runs ok and looks ok. He's not resting because he's tired, but to step back from the work he's finished, and enjoy it. Possibly not the greatest analogy, but you get my point (I hope). Or maybe a painter and a painting is better, but I like tech references better :)

He didn't rest, because he didn't create the universe.

However, man created God to explain it.

He does not need to rest. He did that as an example for us because we need to rest. He was taking care of us. It was on the 7th day. We need to follow His example and rest on the 7th day of the week. Exodus 20:8-11

God resting does not indicate fatigue as some may have supposed, but rather a time to sit back and contemplate and process.
