to a pedifile about 15 years ago and just recently found out.. This mother of child loves her mother regardless, forgives her, but stays completely away from her. No communication, no nothing. She may die soon bcus of her age(the one that sold the child) Is it wrong for the daughter to stay away? Feels it's too late to take any legal action now. The child has grown up and somehow got through the whole ordeal.

It is not wrong to forgive. People think that when you forgive someone it's for the person who has done wrong, that is totally not true. When you forgive, you forgive for yourself so you can move on. The person that caused the pain, even if forgiven, will suffer the consequences eventually.

She got through the ordeal by forgiving her and not looking back.

Forgiveness is much different than many ppl label it.

I would recommend that your friend seek counseling (Psychologist, Priest, Minister). The first step for your friend and others caught up in this situation is to learn, "It's not your fault" ... or forgive themselves. Then they need to face the situation bravely.

Facing the situation with forgiveness to yourself, then you need to find a way to bury the hate, anger, and other emotions which are killing your soul. Sometimes becoming active in groups to stop such behaviors helps (like the mothers against drunk driving did ... but you could start mothers against pedophiles).

True forgiveness would be if you mother came to you and whole heartily asked for forgiveness (act of contrition) ... and worked with you to heal your wounds (penance). Also sounds like you wish to face your child and whole heartily ask for forgiveness and help the child heal their wounds (penance) ... and lastly, the pedophile ... if the pedophile whole heartily (of their own accord) came to you, your child, your mother ... and asked for forgiveness, and helped all of you heal from the wounds.

Much I have learned about forgiveness is from going to Confession to a Priest. I have learned that I cannot truly forgive until the person who's wronged me ASKS for forgiveness ... but I can let the evil from a sin be buried and find ways to heal myself.

No it is not wrong for the child to stay away. Not everything can be forgiven...at least not by man....nor should it!
