7- represents perfection, and is the sign of God, divine worship, completions, obedience and rest. the "prince" of Bible numbers, it is used 562 times, including its derivatives (eg. seventh, sevens). see Gen 2:1-4,Psalm119:164,and Exodus 20:8-11 for just a few of the examples).

The number 7 does indicate perfection in the Bible, which is why the number 6 is man's number, which is short of 7, and is the day man was created. Man's new number, the number of redemption, is 8. There are many other numbers in the Bible that seem to be significant, such as 1, 3, 12, 24, 40, 144. The numbers aren't important in themselves (so don't go using them as lottery numbers) so much as what they represent in the Bible. God is the ultimate mathetician, so it's possible that these numbers are prevalent in nature as well.

The Bible says God took His rest on the Seventh Day, blessed it and called it Holy. The Seventh Day was called Sabbath by the Jews that signifies their relationships with God from generations to generation. 7also stand for many in several writings in the Bible. It also talk about the 7 Hills of Babylon which is most likely being addressed to the seven Hills of Rome being a Kingdom (during the writings of the Bible) similar to Babylon. It could be that those who edited the Book of Revelation was living in the times of Roman rule trying to save his neck from the inquisition.

Besides being the perfect number of completion, and creation occuring in 7 days, like mentioned above...i've also heart that it comes from 3+4 (Trinity + 4 Corners of the Earth)
Trinity being God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit (3 in one)
4 Corners meaning God has authority over the 4 corners of the earth kinda thing...not real sure. But it is definetely a common thread throughout the Bible along with 12 and 144 and such....

Seven is the Gods complete and perfect number...hence 666 is the devil's attemot to get close but he can never achieve perfection. Revelations speaks several times at the seven spirits of god and the number seven goes all the way back to the number of days god chose for creation

Finally - a good question!
7 back in the Bible days represents completeness. Like today we get 12 eggs - 3 strikes and you are out .....
You won 999,999 dollars - not complete!
It represents a complete number!

It is the number of perfection. Like 3 is the number of God, so is 8. 6 is the number of man. when there are multipications of seven, it is like that thing has been redeemed. 40 also means something but I forgot. like purification...

It's associated with perfection and God in a few spiritual traditions, not only the Christian. Here's a numerology site, with a special focus on the number seven (if it's the symbolism you want):
