That depends on her age. During fetal development of the ovary, there are billions of primordial eggs. Somewhere around the 4th or 5th month of gestation, the first part of meiosis occurs and the numbers are drastically reduced to about the 300,000-400,000 range. Over time this reduction continues, such that by the time a girl reaches puberty, there may be only a few thousand potentially fertilizable eggs left. Over the average course of a reproductive lifespan, approximately 400-500 eggs are released. (Average...assuming approximately a 35-40 year span of menstruation.) So although there aren't nearly as many eggs produced as sperm, you still don't need to worry about running out. The only time you really "run out" is at menopause, but by then most women aren't looking to have babies anyway.

When women reach puberty and start menstruating, only about 300,000 immature egg cells, or follicles, remain. Some of these begin to develop with each monthly cycle, but during this time, only one follicle matures into an ovum (egg) and bursts from an ovary into the fallopian tubes, initiating ovulation. Through a process known as atresia, many of the follicles that don't develop into mature egg cells degenerate. As a result, only a few hundred remain at menopause, which usually begins at around forty-five or fifty years of age; however, because of the hormonal changes that accompany menopause, the remaining follicles are unlikely to mature and become viable eggs.

The man is most correct. When you were a fetus you developed all of the eggs you will ever have. You do NOT make an egg a month. One egg is released each month, hence ovulation. You are born with enough eggs to last until menopause. Then you are no longer able to consume.

Women are born with as many eggs as they will need. At puberty the body begins to release them and at menopause it stops. Do the math....13-60=47 years X12=564 usable eggs
Avg. age of women 87yearsX12=1044 eggs.

PS I am a man and I paid attention.

fetus 100000 (approx.)
alive adult on completing her menstrual age 469 eggs have been released and few 1000 destroyed in the race of growth so calculate.

a woman has ovaries that produce eggs .. not actual eggs. A normal woman usually produces one egg every months and she has two ovaries that can take turns producing these eggs which travel down the falipion tubes to her uterus until they are fertilized with semen or until the woman has a period becuase the uterus blood lining needs to be in so many words changed out. this happend usually every month. Did they not have sexual education in your school?
