Yes it does. According to the Bible both blessings and cursings are passed up to the third and fourth generation. Sometimes our ancestors were involved in secret activies in which they brought curses on their children and grandchildren. These curses need to be renounced. This is why we see a particular pattern of behaviour in some families eg. drunkardness, illegitamacy, criminal activities.

Of course the past effects us. In Christianity the past is forgiven but that does not mean that its a cure all and the consequences just dissapear. Your sins can cause pain and suffering for generations to come

Of course it affects us. We are all a product of the events and individuals who came before us. Without them, there would be no us. As a result, we are dependent upon them in all ways, including spiritually.

feel as though we are tied to the past just like the future generations will be tied to us. this is why our culture and society affect us so much. they have been in existence before we came into it and will exist long after we are gone.

Yes and no. Bible sais God is good with a person if He want to do, and He can affect generations if He want to do.
Bible sais He is good withe peoples who love Him, too!
