Our Country has never had an Official Language and I don't believe it should. We were founded by imagrants and the only ones who actually have a right to claim this Country from the beginning are the Native Americans. English has always been the accepted language of the United States, and I think that we should encourage those in our Country who don't speak English to learn it. But I don't think, given our history and tradition, that we need to make an "Official Language."

Not that I know of.....last I heard we don't have an official language.
Edit: Isn't it sort of odd though that to immigrate here legally don't people have to show some knowledge of the English language? Why would they considering it isn't our official language? I mean, yes most of us do speak English, but still....

It is in some states. For example in California, ironically, it is outlined in our state constitution that English is the official language.

It is the official language of California.
And if that doesn't inform you that it isn't worth the aggravation everyone is going through, I don't know what would.

Not as a matter of law. That is one of the main things we need to get accomplished to deal with this illegal immigration problem, together with border security, employer sanctions and a determination to ROUND THEM UP AND SEND THEM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
