We just took the front rail off of our twin 2-year old children's cribs. Now we have a problem of them getting up in the middle of the night (usually because they dropped their blankets/security bear), or they just fall out of bed and we find them sleeping on the floor in the morning.

Any ideas? The crib doesn't have a way to attach a smaller rail to keep them from falling off.

There is a rail made by parents choice at wal-mart. It's about 15.00 and works great. It can be placed on the side of a crib and fits fine. We put on on my son's crib. It will still give them enough room at the end of the crib to get in and out if needed and will keep them and all their toys and blankets safely in.

Well you don't want them falling out of bed or they could really get hurt. Even if they fall and don't hurt themselves they could sit up and hit their head on the bottom of the crib. Get some cheap toddler beds with rails. Some are like $100 so they're pretty cheap. Or, get a full sized bed and put railings on both sides and have them both sleep in it.

I would get them new beds. When my daughter was 21 months old, we had to put her in a new bed (we didn't have the crib you have) because she was climbing out. We then put up a bed railing. This did allow her to get something that she drops (but this is the bennifet of being a big kid) and then she could climb back in. Never did she fall out of bed.

at walmart they have these rails made espelly for cribs.they are pretty cheap and they slide under the crib matress and thats it ,no tools or anything or hooking it to the crib.as long as you have a matress it will work thats what my daughter had on her crib until we got her a toddler bed.but the getting up thing thats going to happen no matter what cause my 3 yr old does it too sometimes cause her "cat" falls out of the bed or shes thrusty or somethng and then half of the time she falls back alsleep at the foot of her bed.

I'd use a full size bed for both and put a rail on it. My son has a full size to himself so I never used a rail just put him in the middle of all that space. I also wouldn't fret to much if they fall out or end up sleeping on the floor. Mine has rarely fell out but even when he did he just climbed up in bed and went to sleep again. He does however sleep on the floor from time to time, seemingly on purpose, and it's never hurt him.

you could try putting the matress on the floor for the first lil bit,,,i had to do that with my oldest, because he would fall oiut and wake up every night it seemed,,,soon after having the matress on the floor he got into a routine and is now in a twin size bed :)

best of luck

there is a rail that you can buy that fits a regular bed...it just slides under the mattress...get one of those or just simply put the rail back up.
