Sorry your cat died. Ours did last Tuesday it was run over too. We let the other cat sniff it when it was dead. Apparently they then know what has happened and does not pine away. I suppose this is too late for you now. Give other cat lots of cuddles and play with it. You will both feel comforted. Good Luck to you all

That is so sad. I am very sorry for the kittens, their mum and you. However, they will get over it; the same way humans do. Many cats go through a mourning period when they lose a loved one: Some cope better than others. Sometimes it takes a long time, but they need to grieve in their own ways. I am sure the kittens will soon get over the loss and will divert the Mum Cat from too much depression. They can miss a day or two of food without any problems; make sure they can have access to water at all times. Also leave food out for them even when you sleep; the smell might tempt them to start eating despite their sorrow. Even a very depressed cat won't let itself starve. If they don't start eating again in a couple of days, take them to the vet to see if there is another reason. Don't worry so much about them and let them cope with their grief ... cats seem to know about death and come to terms with it although they might continue to miss a loved one for ever.
What I find unusual is that you have had this close nuclear family. How wonderful! It is rare for kittens to be sired by the same father, and even rarer for the father to care about the mother and any kittens. I have never known the latter to happen, although I suppose breeders make sure the father is the same male.
I have known a young neutered male cat look after the Mum and all the kittens with fanatical devotion, but he wasn't their father. And amongst feral cats, I have seen young intact males adopt kittens and care for them if their Mum has died. But this is the first time for me hear a story such as yours, so I thank you for that! You just never know about cats; their emotions are so complex. One thing for sure is that if a cat loved another cat with great passion, they will get depressed and grieve, and there is nothing you can do to ease that pain other than spending more time with them and trying to keep them physically healthy.
Best of luck!
It is always horrible when your cat gets run over, and one so young too! Very sad. Please don't let the others out unsupervised!

You need to call a vet for some assistance. I haven't raised newborn kittens, but I have raised 5 kittens from 2wks old. Sounds like you are doing great for now, make sure you get up to feed them every 2 hrs until you call for assistance. Make sure the heat pad is on low so they don't over heat. Also stimulate them to go potty by using a damp warm washcloth by rubbing their bottoms.

Time will heal. Maybe try some special treats.

It was suggested to me sometime back, that if your cat or kittens are not eating buy some baby food and try that.

Also, buy some expensive kitten wet food.

Take your cat and kittens to a vet - they are seriously grieving over the death of the cat. Vets can help with this kind of thing

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do, think about it if it was you partner that was run over. The poor cats are grieving. Just cuddle them and play with them to get there minds off it and time will heal.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that - I really don't know how you would deal with this other than trying a new cat the similar age - the will be able to tell its not Dad but they may adopt him into their little family...

This often happens with animals when one goes. Your vet can prescribe anti depressants for them, sounds a bit far fetched, but they can. The vet will probably tell you to give them some time first though. Try not to worry, they'll be fine.
