Praise is one way to pray. Prayer is communicating with God, with words or just an open heart and mind, putting yourself in God's presence. Praise is when we tell God how good we think he is, how much we love him, and express thanks for everything he has done for us. We also pray for what we need, or think we need, letting God in on our concerns. Sometimes it seems that these prayers aren't answered, because what we think we need and what God knows we need are two different things. There is another kind of prayer when we are simply quiet in the presence of God, and allow him to enter in and change our hearts. Our work can become prayer if we think about how and why we do it. If my job involves interaction with other people, as a Christian, I ask myself if I am being Christ for that person. Did the other person leave the encounter feeling a little (or a lot) better for it? It is as simple as being friendly and helpful, and putting yourself in the other one's shoes. Choosing to be patient with the annoying and rude people... If you make things, think about how they will be used. I think about housekeeping (which I didn't use to like) as an act of hospitality, making my home welcoming for anyone who comes- as a Christian that person is Christ to me, and anything I do for that person, I've done for Christ. So, when you work, the things you make and do are for God. Doing that consciously makes it prayer. Any time you are just thinking about God, wondering about him, asking yourself questions like this one, is praying, too.

When you praise the Creator you are expressing joy, appreciation and the wonderfulness of same.
Things like "How great thou art".
Usually when you pray you are asking for something.
If you are a true fundamentalist who loves the Creator your prayers will usually only consist of four words, "thy will be done."

The main difference:...
Prayer is for intercession, requests, forgiveness....
Praise is calling God most holy thru prayer, singing, music, living, speaking, smiling, laughing, dancing...
Notice that prayer is included in praise definition. It is the appraisal, giving value to, God.
