A Pinot Noir or Cabernet Sauvignon.

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes are great with beef.
Grilled Portobello mushrooms and would go well.
So would lightly sauteed spinach with a touch of garlic, pine nuts, and parmesan.

I love baked potatoes, so that's what I always have with my filet. For wine, you want a red wine. My favorite is La Crema Pinot Noir, it runs around $20-$26. If you want something cheaper I also like DeLoach Pinot Noir ($20) and Mirassou Pinot Noir ($10). I think pinot noirs go best with the tenderness of filets. Now I'm hungry, this is my favorite meal, I just had it on Sunday with the La Crema.

A Claret will go well with your filet mignon.

As to the vegetables, you could accompany the filet with some potatoes - dauphinoises, or potatoes Anna would be nice, as filet is always a rather small cut of beef.

A mixed leaf salad with a balsamic dressing would be a perfect addition.

I do not agree about the asparagus - they may be classy to some, but we believe (in Europe) that wine clashes with asparagus. (And with artichokes, spicy food, vinegar.... etc.)

I would like a red wine (sweet or semi sweet). Asparagus is yummy with Filet mignon with a white cheese sauce on top. Oh yummy!

That depends on the individual but the wine.. MUST be either the RED or second best is rose.. I like the BRUT(not sweet) and vegetables... How about a mixture of green beans, peas, carrots all slightly fried(I hate to use the word fried because they are not to the point of being fried)
