Some coffee machines require the beans to be ground a specific way (fine, course, etc). Check the manufacturers book to see what it specifies. I assume you have made coffee before and know to use one scoop per 2 cups of water. i do that but at the end, i always throw in 1 additional scoop because i like my coffee strong. hope this helps!

I used to work in a coffee house yrs ago and we did a couple of things that made the coffee taste really good.We used purified water( not crappy tap water) . We ground the beans fresh each morning, used brown coffee filters (not the bleached white ones) and used one coffee scoop (or 2 TBS)per 6 ounces of water.Try this and see if your coffee doesn't taste a whole lot better. The main thing is to make it stronger than you think you need to. If you can see through your coffee then it' isn't strong enough hence will lack in flavor.I'd use a mixture of beans such as 60%Colombian or Guatamalan mixed with 40% french roast beans.if you don't have your own grinder then have it ground on a fine setting to extract the most flavor from the beans.

The proper ratio of coffee to water is two tablespoons per 6 fluid ounces of water.
6 ounces liquid measure = 3/4 cup so just adjust for the amount of coffee you want.

Maybe its the coffee. Is it a good hearty roasted coffee or one of those weak kind. I prefer dark roast myself. It will make the hair stand on your head. With your coffee, cut the water in half and try it. If its too strong, add half again the water back. It shouldn't take long to figure it out.

For a 12 cup pot of coffee, add 1/3 cup of grounds. I got tired of counting all the scoops and measured. Works for me!

Try using better coffee. I like to use whole bean French Roast and grind it myself. The darker the bean the fuller the flavor.
