On top of mount Everest they found shells, 100s of them. How did they get there?
My theory is that 4400 there was a great flood, that destroyed the world, and before the flood mt everest was not there, it was only "formed" during the flood.
Again, before some of you miss it, where did the shells and clams came from on top of mt everest?

if noah and his little boat were only stranded for a couple of months than that wouldn't have been enough time for any kind of sea life to settle on Everest.
how ever every 6th grade science students know that volcanic eruptions and the movement of the earths plates are what create mountains. and a few million years ago Everest would have been a lot closer to sea level than it is now.

There are many theories. How would you account for the fact that if all the water in the world was liquid (as opposed to ice) that the water levels would rise, at most, 400 feet, which would be nowhere near the top, or even the middle of Mount Everest? How would the mountain be created by the flood? I am not saying that it isn't possible, but there are so many more reasonable explanations.

Maybe God had a Luau and threw them there when the party was over!

Wow, this is a bad one. Okay... Mt. Everest was once the edge of a continent (in other words at sea level or lower), and did not soar five miles into the air. This has occurred over time with the Indian and Asian plates colliding and pushing that land continually upwards. This is happenening to this very day. Every year Mt. Everest gets a little taller. The theory is called plate techtonics, and much like evolution it has been studied, scrutinized, and deemed the most viable theory when all evidence is considered.

What I don't understand is how does support the theory of how the diversity of species came about (evolution) has to do with the ability to answer this question? Why not ask those who aren't Christians?

Ok anyways...the face of this planet was very different millions of years ago. For example, they found shells and such on parts of the Sahara which support the fact that the desert was once a large body of water. Mt Everest is on the edge of one of many techtonic plates, and is possibly formed by millions of years of one plate pushing against the other. It is concievable that Mt. Everest was once underwater, but I don't attribute that to Noah's flood.

If you're such a staunch supporter of the LITERAL interpretation of the Bible, then explain to me how Noah got two of EVERY species of animals on this planet to fit on his boat, and how he fed them all for 40 days and 40 nights.

Hurry, hurry step right up. Let's all jump on the carousel of circular resoning again. She doesn't want answers...she wants to be on her own personal soapbox.

And what do shells on the top of a mountain have to do with evolution? Oh, btw floods don't make mountains. The bible isn't the only mythology that has a great flood in it's stories. So now you've proven you know little to nothing about science or history.

Gee, I was going to tell you about plate tectonics, but it seems that scads of people who really paid attention to their education have already done so. Good luck in your next attempt to single-handedly destroy the scientific theory of evolution, you're going to need it. So far? Zero success.

Here's a suggestion, and it's not meant to be smart-aleck, though it's tempting. Why don't you actually READ about the theory of evolution, and have someone, perhaps a college professor, explain the difference between the common use of the word theory and scientific theory? Why not actually know something concrete about a subject you keep trying to discredit? That might help you immensely.

Nice try, but Everest has been around for MUCH longer than your silly flood. There isn't enough room on this page to fully refute your ignorant theory but the web is full of usefull scientific and intellectual sites that will back up my statement.

How does a world wide flood cause the formation of mountains? It isn't a theory if you can't explain the mechanisms. It's just wild eyed speculation.

From an old earth perspective, plate tectonics explains how mountains form as the plates push against eachother, causing areas that were once at the bottom of the ocean to be raised as mountains.

You don't seem to be asking a question, but making a statement, but... There are two types of evolution: macro and micro. Micro is proven, without a doubt. There's tons of evidence from fossils and so forth, and when Christians say they "don't believe in evolution" they just sound silly. Evolution exists, and is factual. Micro-evolution at least. Some organisms adapt to their environment over time. Many creatures in nature evolve slightly. Macro evolution is the one that suggests humans evolved from apes, and that part of evolution is what counters Creation of man by God. Most intelligent people who believe in God accept that God created everything including humans, and he also created the ability to evolve.

It's called "Continental Drift" and has to do with Tectonic plate (you know, the things that cause Earthquakes).

Ever notice how the east side of South America looks it would fit nice and snug up against the west coast of Africa? It's because contenants move. Moutains grow, lakes and rivers dry up. The world as a whole is "evolving", you should try it. Text books are a good thing. Try opening one sometime.
