I moved in with the baby's father. He drank when we met but he has been drinking considerably more (every night). He comes home and knocks me around and throws me out of the house. He knows I have no where else to go so after a little while he comes out and tells me I can come in but I have to find somewhere to live. I gave up my job so I could go away with him on business trips. Now that I am 5 months pregnant (no way of hiding it) it is impossible to find a job. I don't know what to do. I am not sleeping right because I never know what kind of a mood he will be in when he gets home. He has also told me if I do leave he will get me and if he can't get me he will get to someone I know. I found out recently that he has put his ex-wives in the hospital with broken bones. Nothing ever seems to happen because he knows the area cops. He beat someone up a couple of weeks ago and the cops let him go and did nothing. I just need help getting out of this relationship but don't know what to do.

I live in Jennings, La. I would turn to a family member but I don't have any.

Have him arrested and stay in the home while he's in jail.

Call the police and get an order of protection. The police will also help you find shelter and they will help you get help immediately. for the long term, get involved with planned parenthood, catholic charities, lutheran social services or whatever.

I help a friend with a similar situation, and she had 5 kids. If you need a place to stay, email me and let me know where you are. Whatever you do, do NOT tell your b/f where you are going! He will definitely feel a loss of power and be in an even worse mood. Here in South Carolina we have an organization called Sister Care, you can find them through the police, do you have something like that?

If this man lays a hand on you again, call the police! Second, find out if there's a Planned Parenthood or Pathways or other agency that helps women in similar situations get back on their feet. There's absolutely no reason for you to be putting yourself and your unborn child at risk - you're responsible for its life. Good luck!

Where are you? City, State? I'm sure someone on here can recommend a women's shelter, and I don't mean one where 100 people sleep on cots in one room. You need help and a place to live. Also, a court order to keep your abusive "baby's father" away from you, just in case. Please give more details so we can help you.

Thank you Sev1 for providing contact info for New Mom! Sometimes even looking up the numbers is too hard for a person in crisis. Hopefully she will call.

Get in touch with your local YWCA, WIC, or social security office. There's plenty of help available for ladies who are in just the position you are in. They'll get you set up with the right people.

I'm in Indiana..... we have shelters here. I'm sure you have shelters there too. But if that's not an option for whatever reason... feel free to contact me and I will see if there are other options providing you are willing to relocate for safety and health reasons...

If he tries to hit you again, kill him. Then call the cops and tell them you were only defending yourself and your unborn child. Good luck.

Do you have any friends that can help you? Do not stay with him for the safety of your baby.
