this is not hard at all...the tools that you will need are...

floral tape, wire cutters, ribbon, and any embelishments that you may want to add to the bride's bouquet.

There are many books that can help guide you and many sites as well. the best i've seen so far is www.michaels.com

And the best for making your own is silk flowers (once again, a vote for Michaels on this)

Boutonnaires are the easiest to make. Take either one flower or two and cut them down to about the length of the thumb (keep any leaves that are toward the top). take your floral tape and start to wrap it around the end, covering the wire. You can add a small ribbon to this to break up the floral tape or leave as is. A little bit of tradition, place the grooms flower into the flowers that the bride is using and pull it out and then make his bout.

Corsages are made the same way for the most part. Another quick and easy idea for the ladies is to give them a single flower w/ a ribbon or have them carry it with them (I did this and it was really cute)

Bouquets are easy as well. FIrst decide on what type of bouquet you want, round, cut flower look, cascading etc. Then just start to arrange. The good thing about silk flowers is that you can bend and reshape over and over. Also...there are little "cheats" out there. They also have a piece that you can just stick the flowers into and arrange.

Best piece is to just start looking at bouquets that you like and go from there. Good and luck..and remember to just have fun!!!

I agree with most of the other posts. Read up and watch videos, practice with cheap flowers, and make them months in advance. The last thing you need to worry about the last few days before the wedding is putting your flowers together. I am buying mine online. For about the same I would pay for materials I am getting 1 bridal & 1 toss boq. 4 attendants boq, 4 corsages, 8 butonaires all for about $300. I am taking my silk boq to a florist a week before hand and see if she will sub out real flowers at the last minute.

it isn't hard. but you need to practice first. and the bride shouldn't be the one putting them together the night before or day of. only go this route if you have someone to do the assembly.
someone mentioned the martha stewart wedding cd. i also highly recommend it. the bouquets aren't hard to make at all, but you need to practice w/ your exact flowers to be sure you won't hit any snags.
tip: don't tie the ribbon around the bouquets until the last minute, this way you can keep each bouquet in a vase w/ water right up to the last minute. and be sure to have plenty of decorative pins the day of (they seem to get lost easily).
good luck!

Boutonnaires are the simplest things to make and bouquets are not hard either once you get used to handing and working with the flowers. Is much easier to use silks than real ones since you can make them in advance and not worry about them wilting.

To get used to making a bouquet, use a bunch of cheap flowers to practice with until you become confident in what you are doing, that way you wont waste your good flowers.

I put together all the other flowers in the wedding for my step daughter, including the bouquet. I used silk flowers so she (& I) could keep them after the wedding was over. It wasn't hard. You can buy all the stuff you need at the crafts store (here we have Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc) We used navy blue and white flowers, and I used white bead strings and blue and white coordinating silk ribbons. The boutonnaires were easy.....just wrap the stems in green floral tape to keep them together.

My friend did. She ordered wholesale roses. I wouldn't recommend it.

First, she spent the night before the wedding making the flowers. You can't do it sooner, or they'd wilt. Second, they did wilt anyway. Third, half of the boutineers broke by the end of the night, and quite a few of the flowers in the bouquets fell out.

Yes, I was recently married this spring and wanted to have a simple but elegant wedding. I chose my colors and decided to make my own flowers. It is not as complicated as you may think. I went to a lot of sites and read a lot of books and it gave me ideas but mostly I just did it myself. I went to my local craft department and decided to use roses and daisies as the main flowers.

Once you get everything you need like; wire, floral tape, ribbon, flowers and accents like pearl sticks and babies breath you can make them however you want. It is your wedding and I can guarntee your family and friends will appreciate it because it is a lasting keepsake for them forever.

My sister and parents put theirs on display in their houses and when I seen them, it made me feel really good to know that they truly appreciated them. I highly recommend it.

Don't get frustrated while doing it. If you want you could even get all the girls together and have a girls night in creating a bunch of wedding details and decorations.

Good Luck and Congratulations on your wedding.

i made mine, my friends and a lady who had a granddaughter getting married and i am making 2 more for my other friends and they can get hard but if you have the patience it will be beautiful when you are done. trial and error with the placement of the flowers is what i had to work with. go to a floral shop and "play " with different designs.
