At 17 is too young to be engage. Your still young at heart, and have much to experience life and enjoy it. Trust me. Schooling and focusing on career path is a lot more important than being engage, but you can still have fun doing things that a lot of young adults are doing at your age. Most people don't get engage until after college or around 25 to 35 years of age. I know too well that many of my past friends who got married as young as 18 yrs old were divorced in less than 3 yrs. Not only it is not cheap, it costly at the end of marriage with lawyers. I suggest waiting it out until your are much older, because your still way too young to blow your youth away. Enjoy life first then marriage and having a family after wards. You still can be with the person you love, but don't get married yet. You still have 30 young years left to enjoy.

I think 17 is young to be engaged but if guys do get engage, why get married right away? Try living alittle while you are young. You might try to see what's out there for you and for the same for him. If you guys really love each other, be patient and get married later. Make sure if he's right for you. It's easier to to brake off the engagement then get a divorce once married and tied down with children.

I don't know how old the guy is but I got married a 18 and know how guys view things. Right now, and even for the first few years he will probably be happy but when he gets older he will start wandering what it would have been like to have gone to college and to have good paying job instead of working the rest of his life at something he hates. I know I'm going thru this now. I know people say you can go to school and raise a family to but It is a hole lot tougher than they make it out. And if both of you have low paying jobs then probably the guy is going to have to work 2 jobs just to make ends meet. I work 3 and my wife works one. We have been married for 8 years now and for the last 6 have stayed on the brink of spliting up. Give it some time, life changes so much after high school and the entire world is infront of both of you.

I got engaged at 18. Im 21 now and we are still together. I will tell you that it takes alot of work to keep a marriage alive. We have a son and i got pregnant at 19 we had a lot of problems and they are still working themselves out. If you love this person with all your heart and you both are thinking about the future then i say no its not to young. if you guys are all about facing the world together you will be very happy. Good Luck

Getting engaged and getting amrried are 2 different things . How much life experience do u have at 17. You need to live alittle and see what happens before u decide that this is the person u want forever. FOREVER IS A LONG TIME

Probably. You have not lived your life. You need to get post-secondary education of some kind, get a job or started on a career and get out in the real world. You need to live on your own and live an independent life to learn about yourself and the world around you. This will all contribute to making you a more well-rounded person. For example, the person I would have married at 18 is light-years away from the person I married at 28, and I'm much better off for it.

I think so. I have known people who are happily married and have been together threw all there teen years though. If your going to get engaged just make sure you are positive that is the person you want to be with. If you fight a lot it's not a good idea to get engaged.

I believe you will regret it, as you get into your 20's. I can't speak for everyone, since I've never been married before, but I did love the freedom at that age. (I'm 35 now) The idea that anyone who believes that they can promise to stay with someone forever nowadays, especially at that age, does'nt seem to be very realistic in today's world. Most teens are naturally "flighty" and free spirited, and even if they do fall in love with someone, theirs a very high chance that they'll start getting bored with the person their with after about a year or so and want to explore the freedom of dating different people.

I would say yes.
Only because of the fact that your brain is still developing. You are truly not done growing yet emotionally, and this means that you are not truly capable of making that decision for yourself (this is true of all teens, I'm not picking on you).
Also, if you are questioning it, then I'm guessing you really feel that it's too early, on the inside.
If it is REALLY love, and you REALLY expect to be together forever, then what's the rush? You'll still love each other when you finish college and have jobs, so relax a little.
P.S.
Contrary to what Kat-E-Lyn says, getting married on graduation day is possibly the worst idea ever. Each of these is an important event, and you deserve to have each as a separate, important memory to look back on.
