if you cant masturbate without thinking sexual thoughts about a woman or a man then i dont think its a sin but when you think about a woman/man in a naked position then of course its a sin... very simple

"Om - The Infinity Of Being" asked if masturbation is harmful. He asked it as a rhetorical question as if everybody just KNOWS it's not. But sperm is protein, and protein isn't easily produced in your body.
The protein we eat is not readily absorbed in the digestive system, and protein is not formed quickly in our body.
Many men masturbate much too often and do suffer from a protein deficit. So this rhetorical question isn't the forgone conclusion he thought.
Before I comment on whether it is a sin or not, I want to mention one other thing that may sound ridiculous, but I'm not including this to be funny.
To increase milk production, cows are injected with female hormones to keep them lactating for years. Some men (myself included) are greatly affected by these hormones and experience a radically increased sexual libido.
I have simply stopped drinking milk altogether. I don't need issues every time I see a girl in a tight sweater.
As far as it being a sin, in Matt 5:28 Jesus said "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."
There's also a passage in Gen 38:9 that is used by some to demonstrate that masturbation is a sin, but I don' think it does.
I think it's important to remember that the temptation is not the sin, it's how we handle temptation that is the deciding factor.
King David lusted on a neighbor's wife, had her brought to him, boinked her and had her husband killed to cover up his crime.
God said of King David "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart".
What the heck is that all about, you may ask?
When David was confronted with his sin, he readily confessed and sought to be restored to his fellowsihp with God.
What do you do when you sin? That will tell what kind of man you are.

I wish it was as simple as yes or no. No it is not a sin to masterbate. Yes it is a sin to fantasize or lust after another. Pornography is as distructive as drugs or alcohal. Using porn to masterbate is sinning. Masterbation should not become all you look forward to or what you plan your day around. It is like anything else in moderation ok in excess not healthy.

I think it boils down to this: What is more offensive to G-d?promiscuous sex, or touching yourself? If humans are inheranty sexual and we aren't supposed to sleep around, doesn't masturbation make sense?

Does it harm you? Does it do anything evil? Don't listen to anyone who quotes scriptural verses at you, think for yourself.
