do you think that teachers should be able to carry guns?
A senator in Wisconsin is going to be proposing along with other senators from across the country that teachers should be able to carry handguns on them. He cites security and success with this in other countries. He also says that hey would be required to undergo EXTENSIVE TRAINING AND COUNSELING in order to do so. However, he claims that you can cut down school violence dramatically by doing so. What do you think??

With proper training and passing the psych eval I think it's a great idea. This would be a great addition to safety for our youth. With so much violence in the schools these days we need to do something and having a police force designated to a school is impossible to enforce because there are hardly enough police officers on the streets.

NO!!! schools should have enough security where a teacher should not have to even think about carrying a gun.that would be like letting the children carry them, teachers have tempers and would more that likely scare the children to get what they want.

Instead of introducing that, they need to introduce a mental fitness testing program for teachers... eliminate the pervs etc.

Then after you have mentally balanced teachers we can reconsider the hand gun proposal.

If the percentage of perverts in this country is 5% then it's also 5% amongst teachers.... etc etc etc . How many teachers do you know that you really think could carry a gun without over-reacting.

Are we telling them... you can't spank my kids but feel free to shoot them?

personally, i think we should find another way to protect our children than by having teachers carrying guns who is to say an unruly teenager would not be pistol whipped by a frustrated teacher. i think that each state should set up a system of professional people trained in the use of force when only need after an evaluation of the problem.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Our schools need better protection. Here in MN we have Police Officers at each school. Some schools require everyone to walk through a metal detector.

I totally disagree with this.
It would only cause more violence.
Kids shouldn't even be near guns at that age.
