Michael is the only angel identified as an archangel because the Bible refers to him as an archangel twice. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16, the verses state that Jesus will return for his church "with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God." Even though the name of the archangel is not mentioned in 1 Thessalonians, Jude 9 makes reference to "Michael the archangel."

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archangel :
There are no explicit references to archangels in the canonical texts of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). Indeed even angels are uncommon except in later works like Daniel, though they are mentioned briefly in the stories of Jacob (who wrestled with an angel) and Lot (who was warned by angels of the impending destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah).
The New Testament rarely speaks of angels, and makes only two references to archangels: Michael in Jude 1.9 and I Thessalonians 4:16, where the "voice of an archangel" will be heard at the return of Christ. Contrary to popular belief Gabriel is never called 'archangel' in the Gospels.
In later Christian tradition, however, there are three Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, usually Raphael, and sometimes Uriel is given as a fourth. Eastern Orthodox tradition mentions Seven Archangels. Uriel is included, and the other three are most often cited as Selaphiel, Jegudiel, and Barachiel.

There is only one Archangel mentioned in the Bible. That is Michael. (Gabriel is not the Archangel.)
He is mentioned by name 3 times in the book of Daniel, once in Jude, and once in Revelation.
He is also referenced, although not by name, in 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

That depends on the bible. Catholic bibles have 72 books. Protestants have 66 books. Catholic bibles contain the Book of Tobit which mentions the Archangel Raphael.
Michael is mentioned a number of times. Gabriel always announces the birth of Christ.

Depends on the version of the Bible. I believe just Michael & Gabriel are mentioned in the King James version, I could be wrong.

According to my "The Compact BIBLE Dictionary", Michael is the only one expressly named and called an Archangel in Scripture, the 9th verse of Jude.

Archangel means the head or chief angel. There can only be one of those. Look up Revelations.
