Because it is right to give to the poor not the rich as the poor suffer from their poverty and by helping them you help their children. Most poor people are nice but the rich are greedy/plus we give about 35 times as much to corporation all together than we do to welfare which was about 1% of the budget (as compared to about 40% to war)..

Come on now - what you call corporate welfare consists of not paying exhorbitant taxes - they still pay taxes, maybe just not as much as you'd like. So lets not get carried away here with sarcasm.

Welfare to the poor, providing necessities to people who, through no fault of their own, can't provide them for themselves, is a good thing.
