OMG YES! I have to do 2 research papers, an analysis report, and 20 hours of community service. Plus I have to defend it in front of a whole bunch of people.
I believe our grades and accomplishments should tell if we graduate or not....not a bid graduation project. We Obviously did not need to do one after every year and we have come this far without it. I'm sure we know our stuff.

I graduated in 2002, my class was the first class in our high school that had to do it. I'll you though, even though its completely ridiculous, its relatively easy to finish. What you have to do is simply not over analyze the whole situation. For example, we learned that we were going to be required to do it around 9th grade. I was finished with the bloody thing by the end of my 10th grade year. Usually the administration will require you to do a series of papers and research along with references that display where you obtained the information. The best way to beat the system is to do your senior project on something that you like. For example, I did my senior project on the history of the electric guitar. All I had to do was a type a paper filled with a bunch bullsh** which I already knew, and then come up with some fake refences, IE. websites, books, whatever, it doesnt really matter. Then, we had to do a presentation, which was nothing more than teaching a 10th grade class about our subject with our class advisor present. It was a total sham. So, the moral of the story is that all you have to is simply do your project on a subject which is something you like. Its that simple.

Yes, when I was in high school I had to do a senior project. It is pretty standard nowadays, most schools have their students complete one. Yes, it is stressful, but it is nothing compared to what you will do in college. It is a good taste of what will be expected of you in college. The project is useful because it proves to the school and the state that you have learned all you can in school and are prepared to become an adult. Just manage your time well, take the project one step at a time, work at a steady pace, and don't procrastinate, and you will do just fine.

Yes, it needs to be done. It gives meaning to the idea of graduating. It shows you you are capable of more than you thought. It prepares you for future projects & knowing how to carry them out. How old is your school? Take comfort in the fact there were other seniors who did projects & lived to graduate & so will you, dear. Good Luck & do your best!

I graduated in 2000, but I never had to do one. I wonder why. My school was relatively new though and there were about 3,000 kids.

I had to do one.. and I had fun doing it. However, I think is should be done differently... Say... Honors classes have to do it, regular students get extra credit, and lower classes are optional...
I think it would work better

I didn't. I had to take and pass certain tests, but not a project.
