When she starts to pull give a quick snap on the leash with a deep sound (arrrrgh). She will start to be aware of when she is going to far. Eventually you can rely on the sound without the tugA leather leash is best for this and I used a gentle leader on my lab (not a haltie) We got our Lab from a rescue shelter at 6 months with no training and it took no time at all to get her in shape. She's 4 now and a PLEASURE.

I had the same problem with my Austrailian Shepard/Border Collie. I found that Cesar Milan was very helpful. Check out his book Cesars Way. He has rehabilitated every kind of dog under the sun. Also watch the Dog whisperer if you can. He shows various techniques to help with unwanted behaviour. Basic rule of thumb with him is that you have to remain calm assertive. You have to be the Alpha dog. Your dog consideres herself to be the alpha right now.
I am using these techniques on training my new 2.5 month old puppy and they are working very well.
Good luck! I hope this helps you!

We used clicker training. When walking, we carried treats with us. I held a treat in my left hand and made sure my dog was aware of it there. She then properly heeled in order to follow the treat. Every so often, as long as she stayed in a heel, I would click and then treat reward for getting it right. Eventually, I moved the treat from the left to the right hand, but still had the dog watching the left hand in a heel. Took a little practice, but did work.

this may sound inhumane but buy a choke Collier my 5month old border collie had the same problem but i read that if she is pulling stop walking it should be a privilege to walk around this advise is working for me (at first its hard because it chokes them until they get how to walk on a leash
