This spring supposedly has the power to heal the faithful, and the church + medical community investigate all healing claims. The spring receives an estimated 80,000 visitors a year seeking to be cured.

Within the last 100 years or so, the church, scientists, and doctors have validated 69 cures as miracles...meaning the cure was sudden, and doctors believe it to be a medical impossibility.

Do you view this as:

a) 69 miracles that science could not debunk - Clearly this is evidence of God's healing power.

b) only 69 out of how many millions? Clearly this is evidence against God's healing power.

c) No relavence either way.

Max Marie - Doesn't bother me in the least, what gave you that impression?

I just want to see how people view the results.

You say tomayto. I say tomahto.

What bothers you more, that the church is using science? Or that it is using to "prove" miracles?

I believe there are now 72 confirmed miracles.

I don't think you care, but I'm going to tell you anyway. A young man from Africa set off on a spiritual quest. He spent time in temples in China. Ashrams in India. Yadda yadda.

Then he went to Lourdes. He had no money. No spiritual formation. He was just on a quest. The priests at Lourdes gave him a job so he could earn a place to sleep. They put him in charge of unloading new patients from the train and reloading those leaving. All folks in hopes of a miracle.

None of them got their miracle. But all of them left changed. Peaceful. Happy.

This was where this boy found his spirituality. I'm not going to lie and tell you he became an instant Catholic. He didn't. He just had his own mystical experience.

Why does this bother you so much?
