I have heard that a vegetarian diet is a very healthy diet, The only thing that I know vegetarians are not suppose to eat is meat. Accept fish, for some reason it is acceptable for vegetarian's to eat fish and eggs. Along with all the other foods.

Yes, it is a very healthy choice to make. I have been vegetarian for a little over a year now and I feel better than ever.
You really can eat pretty much anything. Morning star farms and Garden Burger makes great meat substitutes. If you like ribs be sure and try the Garden Burger ribs, they are great. You can also get soy crumblers to put in Hamburger Helper or spaghetti.
As far as what not to eat, always check the gravy, they tend to have beef or chicken fat in them. We make our own or buy it at a health food store. Good luck.

well depends on how serious you want to be vegan. Will u not eat eggs, or drink cows milk? Will u only eat organic vegetables and meats? or will you completely cut out meats, and only eat veggie dogs??? You might want to google vegetarian and get some more reasearch and make the decisions for yourself. It's your choice what you want to eat. And really if you just try to take care of your self then you will be healthy, you don't have to be vegan to be healthy.

If you are not going to et met then you need to be aware of where you are getting your protien from. Protiens are complex chains of amino acids that your body uses as its basic building blocks. Your body needs you to get complete protien every day. Many foods are protiens but will not give you a complete chain, so you should try to get at least 2 sources of protien every day. Some examples of foods that are sources of protien include beans, tofu, miso, eggs and dairy products like yoghurt and cheese,(which you may or may not include as a no-no for eating - some vegetarians do, some do not), nuts (peanut butter and other nut butters are good too), and sprouted grains. Dark green vegetables eaten with your protiens will also compliment them and provide extra aminos to help you get a more complete source.
Check the ingredients of processed food that you eat, since many of them have animal products. Avoid meat and lard to begin with. Whether you eat fish, eggs, or dairy is your choice. I suppose it depends on yur reasons for becoming a vegetarian.
There are a lot of good vegetarian cookbooks out there. I recommend that you buy one or two and read them for some cooking ideas, and also some ideas about what kinds of foods there are that you don't know about, where to get them, and what to do to prepare them. Try to get one that explains the health requirements and benefits of your new diet in a way that will enable you to get creative and have fun with your food. Good luck!

My sister has been a vegitarian for about 8 years now and I used to be one for around 2 years, how ever i stoped because it is hard to get all the right vitamins and as a result my skin which had been clear all my life started breaking out. My sister also does have lots of breakouts but now she takes these vitamins made for vegitarians which is helping. My main advice is if you stop eatting meat make sure you eat lots of beans and also toffu is very good

My understanding is some vegetarians eat only vegetable products but some vitamin supplements should be taken (I'd ask your primary care physician); and some will add poultry to their
diet.

vegetarian is good, but don't get obsessed with it, be flexible. eating meat red white or whatever can be good sometimes. vegetarian is good always. as for proteins and other supplements, taking tablets and other synthetic stuff is not good. you can substitute it with milk, eggs, etc. there are more vegetarian alternatives.

can eat
things that didn't breathe oxygen

can't eat
things that had faces, mouthes etc

Some vegetarians will eat chicken and fish, and just not red meat.

The real question is why do you want to be a vegetarian?

I wouldn't say it's healthy, no vegetables or plants can ever be a substitution enough for meat and animal protein which is very important
